She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Hoping for updates from everyone tomorrow.
@FridayYet any luck on finding Solo?
@WVduckchick how's the hatch going??

6 babies out, just moved them to the brooder during a lull in the action. 10 pips still going. Nothing on the other 8 yet.
The 6 out are 5 BTBJ and 1 GS.

One pip I'm worried about, it got rolled against the wall and I lost view of the pip. I coerced a chick over there to bump the egg away from the wall, but I haven't seen any more action on it. We'll just have to wait and see.

Cool feeder - I think I'm going to make one of those for oyster shell.    May also try one of those 5 gallon bucket feeders - anybody have one?

I have a 5 gallon bucket feeder and it works great and makes feeding alot easier. I only have 11 chickens right now, but I only have to fill it about once a month.

This made me so hungry!!! Hope you had a great day! Sounds delicious!

Yay!!!! You had 24 total then? Come on babies!!!

Looks like Mama Broody kicked her babies to the curb tonight. I believe they are 5 weeks old. She went in to bed, (up onto the perch) and did not call them. They went in and spent a while wandering around, looking for her in the broody pen, where she's been bedding down with them. I shut the coop door, and left them to their own devices. Part of me wants to dish out tough love, and not go out to check on them, while the softie in me wants to sneak out with a flash light, and if they are in the broody pen, close the door, so they won't have to face the morning shut in with the bigs. I have 2 choices: let them fend for themselves now, and be at increased predator risk. They continue to squirt through the electronet fencing, and are oblivious to the risks they face outside that fence. (from overhead and ground). Or, I could continue to shut them in the broody pen at night, and transport them to the tractor to spend every day in relative safety until they are a bit older. There are 4 pullets and 2 cockrels.

I want to find that thread!!
I just checked: Go to the "Feeding & Watering Your Flock" forum (4th one below the one this thread's part of, I believe), then type "Show Me Your Feeders" in the search box up top. When the thread comes up, go to the 4th post...that's the one I saw. Not sure if SC saw the same one or not. Also read the next few posts from folks who made feeders of the same design.

In addition to the pipe ( mine started out @ 5', I believe, & I cut about 2" off...more about that in a minute*), you'll need a "Y" fitting, a plug for the bottom, & a cap for the top.

*The 2" piece I cut off the end was slipped into the "Y" branch so the birds have to reach further to get to the feed; birds can't flick it out.

I made one change in mine, by accident, but I'm glad I did. The poster I copied used 3" PVC pipe. I went to Lowes to get mine & accidentally bought 4" instead. Turns out the larger tube works better for me. By bending my feed scoop in a tad I can fill the larger tube w/o the feed spilling over the edge & onto the ground, plus, the larger tube will obviously hold more.

How many elbows/feeding stations did you put in for 11 chickens?

Did I tell you guys I got Ameraucanas?

Wow SC, they are looking really nice!

#7 just hatched.
