@Sally Sunshine I have a few of those too! They keep hiding their eggs on me! Our RIR laid 22 (plus 4 that disappeared between finding & collecting then 1 broken) off in the woods. Then last night found another 15 hiding in the garden. Still have not found where our 2 EE are hiding theirs, been well over a week since I have found a pink or a green egg.

I hope you find them! I wont be finding hers since she is locked up all the time, npip and we had to cover and close runs

Yeah, I didn't take notice of the sides til I'd already posted. I'm keeping a close eye on mine, & may end up doing something similar if the wet finds its way in...have to be blowing pretty good out of the South to cause a problem, though.

I have only been giving my food daily and in small amounts. We have been bombarded with rain and humidity that the food molds before they can eat it. So everyone is given fresh food daily vs letting it sit out in the runs. My coops and runs are covered with steel roofing. It's just such yucky rain and moisture.....I wish it would just stop.

I have a feeling they both might be cockerels. They like to fight each other esp the Hmong. But the Ogye gives up pretty quickly so maybe that's a pullet!!!! :fingerscrossed

Thanks. Today was the first day of school so back up at 545am. We have a very mixed flock of 8 hens, 3 duck hens & 4 duck drakes. I went to check for eggs and only found 1 Peking egg & 1 very small Rouen egg in their temporary coop. Our Isa Brown escape artist got out but she laid in the spot she dubbed hers in the garage. While in the run to check food & change water they were SO MAD I didnt let them in the yard to forage. But I want the rent!
I have only heard of 1 "case/outbreak" of AI here in MI and that was about 250 miles southeast of where I live. And that was 3-4 months ago.

Ok, quick update... (having a busy day at work already!) Half way through day 21:

12 in the brooder - 5 BTBJ, 4 GS, 1 SS, 2 OEGB. All fine and dandy!

Still in the bator - 2 GS assists that are now out of the woods and doing fine. One had zipped the wrong end and got stuck, one had zipped about a third of the way around and stuck a leg out, so I took his cap off and he pushed out fine. One more GS was almost done zipping when I had to leave for work. 2 OEGBs and 2 GS working good pips. 5 with no action at all yet, but its still just day 21.

Nothing yet, they are technically due to hatch tomorrow but these darn Brinseas might be too stable to let me enjoy early hatches.

Kind of boring, I must say...I filled up the wells when we got home last night and went to bed.

My flock listened to talk radio today. Interestingly, since last night's fiasco, they were all in the run when we got home around 5:30. Don't know if their night time escapade last night scared them, or if they are hanging around to hear the "politics of the day". Hopefully, no hawk predation. Will know for sure when I do a beak count.

I just checked: Go to the "Feeding & Watering Your Flock" forum (4th one below the one this thread's part of, I believe), then type "Show Me Your Feeders" in the search box up top. When the thread comes up, go to the 4th post...that's the one I saw. Not sure if SC saw the same one or not. Also read the next few posts from folks who made feeders of the same design.

I started off with a 90 at the bottom of the down chute and an 18" L at the bottom with holes cored, but the feed didn't want to turn the 90. I just searched "PVC feeders" in images, and about 90% of them were the Y design. I built one, and it was the ticket, so I wound up with 12 total. I got most of the feeding stations built. I still need to build a few more. It may be overkill, but with that much food in the tube, I'm doing all I can to keep it dry.

Found her body today.

So sorry about Solo, I think we all felt attached to that one.
I have at least one feeder for every 6 chickens, except in the silkie pen. I still need to add a few more in there.
I'm really happy with how the Ams are growing out. The hens are beautiful, too, but they are more camera shy than the boys

I didn't think the blacks would be my favorite, but they are gorgeous. I have 9 roos from a straight run batch, so at least I have a good crop to pick from. The blue in the pic is one keeper, but that black is still showing a little purple sheen. I have another that has the most beautiful green sheen, and he is going to be my man in the Am pen. The blue will be getting a harem of BCM

Yep, NPR. It was an old radio with the turn knob that tends to drift off station. As a matter of fact, hubby got it set up, and turned it on, and it didn't work. So he heaved it across the lawn. When he picked it up to go in the "on the way to the dump pile" he looked at it again, and found a stuck function knob. Since we were in a hurry to get gone, he dialed in the first station that would work, (NPR) Well, the volume dial seems to drift too, so we came home to the neighborhood blasting with the opinion of the day. Chickens seemed to like it. 9 eggs yesterday, and they were all sitting around drinking coffee, listening to the radio drone! No escapes yesterday.

Ditto, condolences about Solo. Any idea what happened???
