She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I have never been to an auction. They sound mean. :tongue Why keep bantams? I love a silkie bantam or a cochin bantam..I have to choose which ones I want to have around all the time, I choose the silkie bantam. But, I love having the cochin bantam around during the spring and summer..then I have to sell them because I just don't have the room. :( Here are a few of my babies from past, and present. Bantam cochin Love my LF too..for the eggs!
I love them all! Especially the third pic down from the top. That's one of my favs!! And the great thing about bantams is you can keep more of them because of the size!!
Lost all 6. The other 12 seem to be doing fine though. Lost one golden sebright, 4 black tail buff Japanese, and one OEGB.
I'm so sorry to hear that!! I wonder why the other 12 were ok? Maybe they were huddled in the middle. How long was the light out for? It's just terrible! More :hugs

Sorry. That just plain sucks.

HELP! I have not had time to catch up, sorry. Just got home and I am thoroughly disgusted with myself. The light was out in my brooder and I have 3 dead chicks, and 3 more barely alive. The others seem ok so far, just cold.
I put the 3 barely alive ones in the incubator and set it on about 93. I tried giving them some water, which they sorta took.

What else should I do? What harm may this cause with the others? Obviously I replaced the light bulb.

:hit

Sorry I cant give any advice that haven't already been given. But I can send hugs!

I let my chickens out for some free ranging today. Since it's super slow tonight, I'll post some pics!
These are the first two chickens I ever hatched! I know you're not supposed to breed brother to sister but I don't know if the eggs came from the same mom/dad and they are very bonded:

Look at how big my little cockerel is getting!! He still sits on my lap, though. Hoping he doesn't change to much once the hormones kick in:

Here's a question. The female was kind of squatting in front of him today. I've been hearing some of you talk about squatting. Does this mean she's ready to mate or possible lay an egg?:

I have been told thats one sign they are close to laying age. This was my first year with chickens and even though we dont have any roosters they were squatting 1-2 weeks before laying. I was never a fan of silkies but their cuteness has grown on me. Thinking about getting a bantie one.

She's almost 18 weeks old and starting to act a little different. I'm hoping soon!! This is my first year too!!
