You sound like me... I prefer the old stuff too... that nickel brushed looks like it belongs in a highrise condo, lol...

If you prefer the old stuff, you'd like our house. Built in 1822, vernacular Federal updated with Greek Revival trim. Original windows with original glass, original flooring upstairs, early 20th century chestnut flooring downstairs, huge panelled interior fireplace, sunroom addition built 1913, first floor guest suite and up to date kitchen fit into the 1913 kitchen, clad in Western Red Cedar siding finished in a clear finish.

I love the house, it is HOME. I just wish I could move it to the country.

I know! Poor Meg! Ive always had instant gratification problems! Patience was hard to learn, but at least i dont have to open the bator to shine the light semi thru em ;) i waited 38 days last time, making sure i gave my first every chance it could have... Really lucky i didnt have a bomb!

Trust me, you would have smell the potential bomb!! Those stinkers are unmistakable!! :sick

It's not your fault trust me....my very second hatch I had a temp spike on day 19 after lockdown and killed the 8 Rhodebar eggs I had in there. Not a single one hatched. Be thankful you have 2 babies!!! I know I would be. And I have to agree with whoever said that yes you could have helped them but still they may have died. It's better to not get attached. I have some sad stories if your ever curious to hear. Pm me if you are.
Hahahahaha!!! Thanks. But that was not my intention. Hence why I turned the blade sideways. ...Ravyn. lol!!
If I wanted to kill him I would have but...you want fertile eggs this spring correct???? Lol!!! I need him...as much as I hate the fact he is mean to the kids...and was even hand raised....it sucks and breaks my kids heart that he turned on them.

I probably wouldn't have meant to kill him either... but... yeah... :gig

Yep, would really like to swap those breeds with you... and sounds like you might need to grow out a new boy...

I found that the roos most likely to turn aggressive are the ones handled the most when young... I only handle my chicks for first few days, then when they start getting skittish I leave them alone except feeding and watering... once they feather out and discover the 'big bad world' I become their best friend again... but I don't pick up and handle them unless needed... when the pullets get close to lay they settle down and are social and the boys follow their lead... only had aggression a couple times in our flocks, 1 got rehomed since he attacked my broody and the other 2 were Silkies and those were simple to correct...

TMI to quote it all Rayvn couple more days I take a peak at them eggs. don't you know skunks have the right of way at all times. that is of course unless they are in my coop then all rights forfeited. some people just gotta get in those smelly spots .anyhow howdy how you folks doing . have thirty page day again I don't count any more .I just go to the last page and read backwards .then I read something and have to post search to find what went on .

its more fun that way .says at the bottom of the screen I have 170 unread post. that's about a forth right. I swear this thread just keeps growing . everyday seems a new person has climbed the gang plank. jumped right on board .and every time I check out who's watching and reading there are new names that never saw before .
Well, that's all I got for tonight. Night cats n bats.

That sounds absolutely wonderful! But, yeah... needs to be in the country... we got the country, but had to settle for a modular house... not too bad, but I've always wanted an old farmhouse kinda like what I grew up in... sometimes we gotta make choices... :/

That's what drives me nuts about this house. The old sections have the old rustic, rough Mexican Pavers, (brought in from Mexico) even in the windowsills. randomly interspersed with Talavera tiles.

The new sections have builder white paint, cheap carpeting, and big white moldings around the windows. (Which I'm going to yank off as soon as I decide on paint colors and find some old tiles) All the brushed nickel will be replaced with wrought iron.

It's not an authentic adobe, but eventually it will be more cohesive and have a "warmer" southwestern feel than it does now. Luckily most of the work is cosmetic - and I can do that!

Yeah, me too. I wanted to be out and away from civilization, DH can't handle too much isolation. We found a great compromise here where you feel very rural and there are a lot of horses and tracts of farmland - dirt streets, no streetlights, but we can be in Albuquerque in just a few minutes. We only have an acre, but it beats the heck out of SoCal suburbia!

Thank you, that means a lot... :) some are a bit harder to catch, but I can handle them all without issues... I try hard to keep them healthy and happy, so they don't get stressed or irritated...

The 'Thor' bird as you call him is following me around like a dog now, lol...
