Sounds like another not so great batch of eggs, sorry to hear that.  I know in my flock the fertility goes down when summer starts cooling down.  Good luck on the 4 good and 3 questionable!

I am hoping its because they are young birds, only 6 months old. I am trying to keep the temp 100-101* since I think I ran to hot last batch.

Hey guys. Sorry its been awhile. Trying to get stuff fixed and/or completed before snow flies and enjoying the last few nice days we have left.

Day 15 started last night. Candled my 34 duck eggs. It appears I have 14 duds, 13 quitters, 3 that I am unsure of and 4 active movers. Wish I knew how to post the video I took.

When I post video, I uploaded them to youtube and set it to public view. Then upload link under the video symbol.

You will need an account, the kids will probably be able to help. Once you have an account you will be able to upload your videos. I usually video with my phone and using the youtube app on my phone I will upload. Then I will use the pc to add the link to byc.

Question: today is day 4, had the humidity randomly DROP while we went out for dinner. I left, it was at 34% like it's been for days (34-37%), get back 2 hours later and it's at 24%!! Just like all of a sudden *BAM* they sucked the moisture out of the air. And no one was around to lift the lid or anything, so not random interference! Is this normal for a Genesis?

It could be related to your weather outside. Did I dry or cool front move in? Did you close up windows that were previously open? Change anything in the atmosphere? Personally, I would say if you're running dry, it's normal fluctuations. I always have a rise and fall in humidity when I run dry. Add a little water. I've been keeping humidity 40% but u don't have a styro. Trace air cells on day 7 to monitor growth.

Wow, sorry you lost so many. I've been there. But congrats on the healthy ones!! You have to upload videos to YouTube first. It's kinda a pain the first time because you have to set it all up but I found it to be worth it and super easy after you get the first one done.

I bought them from a eBay seller who just said they were from here silkie/sizzle flock. Liked the look of her silkies so I bought the eggs. Your guess would probably better than mine on the colors.

I really like them. I breed silkies myself. Can you pm me the eBay sellers name? Or post it? I'd like to look them up.

I'm on day 14 with my eggs. I had bought 12, 3 never developed and the other 9 are all still alive and looking good. I've been keeping my humidity a bit higher then normal (45%) and I've tried some new theories out with these shipped eggs. Im happy with the development so far
but the real test will come next weekend during hatch time! for a good hatch!

I have 3 new chicks. Interesting tidbit...out of 18 eggs that I weighed, the largest and the smallest eggs hatched and then 1 in the middle. The chick that hatched out of the smallest egg, seems to be quite weak. I'm giving it electrolytes and hoping for the best but it just sleeps ALL the time. The other two are super healthy. Here's some pics of the two active ones...

3 barnevelder, 1 bcm, and either slw or chante. I remembered that I need to be able to see how it goes, I can't see through ameracauna eggs very well, so brown should be a bit harder. Lol.

Ruby Nala: adorable chicks, the puffiness of the black one is impressive. As soon as I showed my wife a picture of a black silkie we had to have silkies. They look like a scottish terrier version of a chicken
