She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Did your water dry up? Or are you running without any water? If no water, then it shouldn't have dropped like that. Conditions where the incubator is located will affect it though. Drafts, lots of temp swings, direct sunlight, etc. Just some things to consider.

Yeah, it's not by any windows, it's actually parked in one of the few draft free areas in the house. Right beside my computer desk! It could be that the water dried up. I checked it before I left, and when i got back it was that low. I did pop the top open to put water in some of the other channels since getting it back up using just the hose to one channel was tricky. It's back to 33-34%. Our house is consistently 68, so no radical swings. I don't know, it was just so random since I had been running it for a week prior to getting the eggs and didn't see that much of a humidity shift before. It will save us money now since I'm convinced it was because we went out for dinner LOL

I looked at accuweather for Newman Lake, WA(It looks like you are in that area, Somewhere up in Northern Idaho or Eastern Washington). The humidity for today starts at 70% and drops to 21% by 4 in the afternoon.

My guess is that the humidity in your house dripped a lot--which will make the humidity go down in the incubator if you do not have water in it. If humidity regularly goes below 20% at your place, you will have to add water to your incubator.

Bad stuff happens if humidity is below 25% for a long time during incubation.

I'm on day 14 with my eggs. I had bought 12, 3 never developed and the other 9 are all still alive and looking good. I've been keeping my humidity a bit higher then normal (45%) and I've tried some new theories out with these shipped eggs. Im happy with the development so far
but the real test will come next weekend during hatch time! :fl for a good hatch!

I have 3 new chicks. Interesting tidbit...out of 18 eggs that I weighed, the largest and the smallest eggs hatched and then 1 in the middle. The chick that hatched out of the smallest egg, seems to be quite weak. I'm giving it electrolytes and hoping for the best but it just sleeps ALL the time. The other two are super healthy. Here's some pics of the two active ones...

How many hygrometers are in it?

I like running dry but that's because I am in the most humid place possible. :lau I do not have to add water and will stay around 20 to 25 % and that what i like. ;)

Cute chicks! You weigh them during incubation? How does that work?

Well, I recently found out that it only works with eggs from your back yard, but basically you weigh them when they are laid and then weigh on days 7,14,18. The eggs should loose exactly 13% by hatch. So if you monitor weight you can adjust your humidity to match proper weight loss. It's the most accurate method for humidity.

Ruby!!!! I am in love with your partridge!!! It almost looks like mine I have now!!!!

I love that one too!! It's so stinking cute and has a personality to match!!

Yes, this is exactly what I think happened.

Ruby Nala: adorable chicks, the puffiness of the black one is impressive. As soon as I showed my wife a picture of a black silkie we had to have silkies. They look like a scottish terrier version of a chicken :D

No problem sharing the eBay seller. http://www.ebay.com/usr/1234muki?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

For an eBay seller she was exceptional I thought.

Thanks! I forgot you said they were sizzled, duh! But really nice to hear positive feedback on eBay. I hope to sell on eBay in the spring myself, so I've been doing my homework. (And shopping)!! :gig

I have 2 hygrometers in it. I did the salt in a cap w/some water test and one was spot on, the second was w/in 2% of what it was supposed to be.

Yeah, we're pretty close to Newman Lake. That would explain it quite a bit! I'm trying the "less humidity" still have water in the 'bator tho. I don't think it was below 25% for long. We are now starting our freezing overnights. Fun stuff.

You should be fine--Averages is what counts--and aic cell development.

Make sure that the eggs are turning correctly and look into using a cool down cycle from day 8 to 18.

It all adds up to better hatch rates and more robust chicks.

Hello all,

I just found this thread last night and thought I could read from start to current to catch up but I gave up, lol. So I jumped to the end and am now wondering if Amylynn and SCflock still on this thread?

I have not seen Amy or SC post on here for a while. It just sort of died. But I know SC will poke his head in every now and then. Other than that......:idunno

Ok, thank you for your reply. I'm new at incubating eggs and I'm trying to decide which one I am going to be
