She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

That sounds like the trip we took to get these eggs. We were on the road all day. From 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM.

I didn't sleep... left around 2am and got back around 5 or 6, I think? We made a couple stops on the way and got stuck a couple times in s****y traffic...

I know, it's so frustrating to know he was growing so well til he got stuck. I still have no clue why it happened.

Embryo stuck on inside of shell while developing is sign of not being turned after collecting until it is set... the longer they sit, the better the chance of sticking to the shell...

So on top of everything else she did wrong, she didn't turn them as well... what a surprise. I wonder if maybe that's why I'm having so many problems with them?

I just had to share this. We were working on the coop, and Dudley is lazy, so he climbs into the mini-truck to lay down. Then a hen climbs in with him. He laid right there and didn't even mess with her. She climbed all around him, I think she even stepped on him. I was so proud of him!

That's is so funny!!!

That was a baby radioactive lizard/dinosaur.  lol

:yuckyuck

If everything goes right I will be trying shipped eggs in the spring. I plan to try to be less hands on during incubation and if I have loose/wierd air cells I'm going to try Ruby's theory with working on weight loss and air cell size after  the air cells firm up. I am not good at being hands off. It was hard enough with these broodies and they were outside. I don't know how I am going to accomplish it with them being right in the next room, but I really want a decent hatch with some beautiful babies, so I am going to have to.  Once hatch starts though...all bets are off! No hands off at hatch. If I see trouble I'm going to act/react. lol And I am not leaving any of those babies in my death trap once they are moving. Now if I get a new one before I hatch I may let them stay in there long enough to dry off...lol

I'm morbidly curious enough to want to see, so if no one else does you can send a pic to my pm.

I love it! I want to snuggle him so bad! He is too cute!!!

:thumbsup
(I was curious too!)

Yes, this is why it is always said to tilt or turn them while collecting enough to set... not all will stick, but it is why a lot could stick to the inside of the shell when developing... most that stick to shell usually don't make it to hatch either...

When I was moving them back to their pen the other night, Crash & Burn got startled and flew down the hill... Crash came back up, but Burn didn't... got dark quick and I couldn't find him anywhere...

Wasn't planning to get Snowy's ever, but sure couldn't turn down this awesome pair... getting Lady Grey's momma is too cool as well... :)

Nice poultry Ravyn.

Megan, that was deffinately trying. Too bad he gave up.
I know, I was really hoping he would make it but I think the poor little guy was doomed from the beginning. I'm not so sure I want replacment eggs from her now. I don't want to be out of the time and money it took to get these (they weren't expensive at all but the gas it took to get there and home was and it was a LONG ride) but I don't want to go through this again either. The hoping and waiting and watching 1 quit right after the other. I don't know, maybe I should just cut my loses and save the cost of shipping that I'd have to pay to get replacements (I'm not making that drive again just to get more bad eggs)

Didn't I see a pic of a baby dragon in your yard a while back?
Why yes. Yes you did.

I hope this wins pic of the month. .. or whatever it's called.

When you do try again, maybe putting the bator in the safest place in your house and trying not to think about it so much might be a good idea. lol I think it takes at least a few days before they 'splode.
