She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I guess I'm pretty lucky to be situated where I am. We're 600+' off the road. Nearest neighbors are renters @ the end of the lane; next nearest has more chickens than we do, by far. Nothing behind or beside us but fields & deer.

Our friend down the road raises games, so really his are louder than ours, lol... and behind us is a 200+ acre cattle pasture... don't think my roosters bother the cows! :gig

I would be interested in some yes. Just need to figure logistics. I know I will also be working in TC, but on Sunday. Not 100% if I will be Monday. I am about 30 min from Kalkaska and just over an hour from TC city limits.

I can come via Grayling and Kalkaska, or via Cadillac and Mesick, whichever is closer. We can meet at the closest point of my route to you, and I can be somewhat flexible on the time as I don't have a business meeting on Monday afternoon, it's just drive time.

Btw, anyone who is interested in buying Coturnix quail, I know someone who has them and isn't hatching anymore this year... shoot me a pm if interested and I can get you in contact with them... she is reliable and a great shipper... :)

Don't ya just love it!? Nobody bothers us back here to speak of...no salesmen except seldom. Heaven is...

Oh man, that stinks!! Trust me, I know exactly how you feel...but with shipped eggs, not local. I would expect a lot more from local eggs. I'm wondering if it's the parent stock, the fact that they were filthy, etc. how old were they when you got them? And this is two separate batches? Is one dying over the other? :hugs
Haha! Good for you! I can't wait to follow your hatch in the spring! If you have extra eggs, let me know, I will buy them. I'm getting super nervous about hatching them!!
I wish I would have told you to take a pic of the egg after you've opened the air cell but not removed the ducklings. It's really hard to see inside the baggy. But they both look like they died before lockdown. I don't think the one that pipped would have made it with all the fluid in the bag. I know that I never have fluid like that if they were alive at lockdown. How did the membrane look? Thick or thin? I'm wondering if it was a weak membrane and the chick accidentally broke through. PLUS, neither egg was even drawn down. Death had to happen before lockdown. I don't know why, though. I would disinfect the incubator, re-calibrate everything and set a small test batch. Maybe just like 8 -10 fresh eggs and try again, keeping a close eye on them and keeping notes of everything. Why is fertility so low?
I thought you had a fan kit? I swear my brain is fried.
Not really sure how old they were. She told me when I 1st emailed her that she would start collecting for me and I went to get them like 5 days or so after that. But the air cells looked very big for week old eggs. Those were the "cheap eggs" and they are definitely quitting alot more than the others. Out of 18 of those I have 5 left :he And the other 1 that I thought was quitting earlier did, and that was 1 of the "expensive eggs" so now out of 12 of those I have 7 left. So out of 30 eggs I have a 12 left :hit I really do want to cry :(

It's okay to cry over spoiled eggs, but when those are done set some local cheap eggs and work on technique. Document everything you do and everything you see, and over time you will see what works and what doesn't.
