She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Does she do this even when she's with other chicks? The surefire trick to get them to shut it is to hang a feather duster over the brooder that they can cuddle in.
Yes, she's in the brooder with the other chicks, they're all fine but she just cries continuously, then she'll fall asleep and snap back awake and start peeping even louder. It's like she's exhausted but can't sleep. But when she's in my lap she's fine. And all her peeping gets the others started. I wish I had a feather duster, lol. If I can make it through the night tonight I'll get her 1.

Sounds like she imprinted on you :) She thinks you're momma and cries when she can't see you. The feather duster should help with that.

Cheers!!

Honey Jack... mmmm... :thumbsup

Mmmmmm!!!!! I love Jack. It's by far my fave.

I remember the dark morning calf feedings... no thanks... :plbb

Ours isn't big, but they sell everything from the kitchen sink to cattle... (not joking either, they had a sink at one, lol)

If you don't need the poultry selling outlet, then probabky no need to bother looking farther... but if you do, then yes...

I never buy poultry from auction though, only sell... and once it hits the ground there, it don't come back here...

Neighbors son said he got MG or Coryza from buying and selling back and forth from the auction and a flea market... wiped out his whole stock and he had to start over... won't risk that... ever...

That is why I quarantine for 3 to 4 weeks when getting new birds. ;)

I'm going to try this next time I'm sick! :gig
That sounds so good right now!! I was a big drinker in college. I loved it, but then it just fizzled out for me when I started having kids 10 years ago. Haven't really had a drink In years. Maybe when I'm done breastfeeding this one, I'll find a specific cocktail I like and treat myself once in a while. Nothing wrong with that!

See i really only drink when I post something on here!!! Hahahahaha!!!! But my ultimate favorite is a dirty martini. Cant beat that briney salty drink.

OMG... someone please help me!! The last chick to hatch will not shut up, lol. She just keeps crying. Loudly! The only time she's quiet is when I'm holding her or if I make a nest for her in my lap and cover her up. Will she eventually stop if I put her in the brooder and wait it out? She's driving me crazy!!

Awe! :hugs i know when my Two arent happy theyll drive me nuts and i hope nothings wrong :( i know ive heard about someones loud baby bein sick an lost...

She was like this when she hatched though. She was raising h*** in the bator and when she dried I put her directly in the brooder, I spent less time with her than I did with the others. When she wakes up she jumps and screams and then settles into a loud peeppeeppeeppeep. Or she slowly start peeping and get louder as she goes. I don't see anything wrong with her, her naval looks fine, it looked fine when she hatched. It bled a little but I did the iodine and Neosporin treatment and put her in the brooder. It looks completely healed and fine now. It seems like she's in pain but when I'm holding her she's fine so I'm guessing she's not in any pain.

Lol, maybe she's just loud. Is she acting okay otherwise? Energetic and moving around? Better hope it's not a rooster if this is a sign of things to come.

I'm dying to check out the auction around here. I say around here but it's about an hour and a half away. My neighbor goes every month and comes back with something or multiple somethings. He did pick up 6 beautiful Mille fleurs last month. I was pretty surprised. This month, the past weekend, he picked up 3 young frizzles. I walk over to his place and he wanted to show them to me. He had them in a cage. So we walk over and one was already dead!! Poor thing. Then he opens the cage and just lets the other 2 jump out to go mix with his whole flock. I took the opportunity to ask him if he was scared that the dead one had something and now the other 2 would infect his flock. He says "yeah, that's why I kept them in a cage for 24 hours". :th His place is so dirty and unsanitary anyway and it's really none of my business. But I just don't get some people that really do like animals but don't treat them right. Bio security is really important especially with the ai now, not to mention all the other diseases.

ETA: This has been going on since 5 when she hatched. She's been quiet for the last 30 minutes or so cause I've had her in my shirt.

How long ago did she hatch? I know my chicks cry a lot right after hatch but then settle down and go into post hatch coma. Lol. Someone on this thread said that incessant crying can mean something. I think it was after one of chicapee's chicks was doing that. Remember, Ravyn?

I hope she's ok. I'm just trying to figure out what to do with them tonight, the brooder is in my bedroom floor so I won't get any sleep if she does this all night. And right now I'm just making it worse by holding her. When I put her back she's really going to go off.

She's not very energetic but then again she hasn't really slept since she hatched 5 hours ago til now.
