She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Anybody here ever have any dealings with McMurray Hatchery, in PA? I wonder if they allow hatching egg customers to pick up, or whether they're shipping only.
All the horror stories I've read on here about the rough handling shipped eggs have to endure makes me afraid to go that route. Buying live birds entails quarantine, so that's out,
I don't know of anyone local breeding RIR's, & haven't noticed any CL ads for fertile RIR eggs. I'm not looking to do anything til Spring; just trying to get my "ducks in a row" early.
Anybody got any bright ideas?

This may all be moot; was just on their web site, and it doesn't appear that they even sell hatching eggs.
Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

not every one has bad hatches with shipped eggs a lot of hatchery's sell hatching most of them are over four bucks each .some include shipping some don't . look on ebay for what you want as close to you as you can find it . make sure you read the feed back on the seller .good incubation good shipping some hatches come out well . there was a guy that ordered eggs from McMurray and had a 100% hatch in a home made bator this past spring somewhere up north . they sell hatching eggs just aren't selling them now.

Good to know; I'll have to go back & read a little closer, or email them, to see if they allow direct pickup
Good thing I checked again; McMurray's not in PA at all...they're in IA! Thought sure they were in PA; wonder who I'm confusing them with. Them would've been some EXPENSIVE eggs!

I got a video of the pullets fighting! This black one instigates and then doesn't back down. Didn't want to make it to long but they kept going for awhile, until the young cockerel (who's not the dominate one) came over and broke them up. My main cockerel is proving to be pretty mean and useless!

I wonder if they have epic stare downs because they can't see through the fluff? Lol! I can imagine the squinting and insults they battered about. Fluffballs fighting is much cuter than marans fighting...I laughed so hard I almost peed watching the ameraucanas today. They do a wing flapping dance. My 4 year old asked if they knew karate. Bahahaha!

Check with the local small businesses. Love supporting small business.

I think you were thinking of Meyer's...

If you luck out and find a good shipper on ebay you'll still pay for them . make sure you check the shipping price as well . I have had eggs shipped from Mich . won the high bid which was the only bid all were fertile hatched five out of 16 didn't have a clue about hatching eggs. think I got the dozen shipping and all for twenty five bucks lost them all but one he was my rooster and was a good one. lost him to a leg injury . got two of his sons and twenty pullets by him just starting to lay . while the pullets are not SOP they are very pretty . you would have to see the hens to know what that rooster did for me . yes there are horror stories but there are success stories as well . most usps packages are insured for fifty dollars try to stay under that .and if they cheat you file a claim through ebay . you have thirty days from the purchase date .

My first 5 fuzzy butts hatched this morning. Not sure how well you can see em but there is 1 bantam ameraucana and 4 Mille fleur D'Uccles. I think one is hiding in the lower right corner during this shot. Will post a better photo tomorrow. 8 eggs left to hatch... Crossing my fingers that they're just a little slow.

I haven't shared any dinner details for a while. For those who are newer to the thread, I grow a lot of things and make a lot of food. Just an old fashioned farm, ya know? Today's dinner is lasagna...with homemade pork sausage, homemade turkey egg lasagna noodles, home grown tomato sauce, homemade parmesan cheese, homemade mozzarella... Yum.
That looks amazing. Homemade cheeses are on my list of things to learn how to make.

Hello everyone. .I'm getting my first batch of shipped eggs..
I've heard that you should let them settle for 24 hrs before putting them in incubator?
I guess I could use a few pointers..
I've hatched a few batches of my own eggs successfully. . Just never shipped eggs before. . Any help would be appreciated. ..
