She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Hey @scflock
 or @amylynn2374  Is a 3-page post parade-worthy?  :lau

No, it wasn't that long...was it??? :gig I'm on mobile so it does look so bad from here. Lol!

How do all y'all deal with no call/no show?

I tend to give people benefit of the doubt, because life happens.  But here's the story.

I posted Scooter, my Golden Narragansett tom, Baby, and a bronze hen on several local Facebook poultry groups.  Just a short time later I got a "very interested" message and we set a date and I provided contact info.  I posted "pending" on the listings.

On the designated date I was home, waiting.  And waiting.  And waiting.  I messaged her, and she said oh, sorry, she had an out of town emergency.  Ok, I get that.  It happens, and responding to people on Facebook would not be a priority for me in that case.  So she said she'd be back Tuesday (today).  We set another time, today at noon.  Well, it's 2 pm, and no call, no show.  I messaged her on FB that I'd be leaving soon for the day, and Messenger showed she saw the message.  But no reply.

I don't think I have any obligation to "hold" them for her at all, nor do I have any inclination to do her any favors.  I posted "Available" on all the listings and refrained from commenting why.

Does anyone disagree?

Nope, I'm glad you put them up as available again. I really like SC's first come, first serve approach.

how was your weather today? It was beautiful here and supposed to be even nicer- almost 70 tomorrow.

Amy, it was beautiful. I worked out side as much as I could with the baby. Replanted a couple bigger plants that I'm going to bring in for winter. Dug up the garden and got everything ready for spring. I was in capris and a tee-shirt!

Agreed.  Rye makes for a great winter lawn, wheat would be better in the run for the chickens.

I'm going to make some grazing frames since the crew has now eliminated all growing things from the run.  They have a few flakes of alfalfa in there now to tear apart as they like, and still get all the kitchen scraps.  (They ate the last of the garden trimmings the other day.)  I have alfalfa seeds for sprouting, maybe I'll pick up some wheat as well.

Me and Amy were just talking about this. Can you post pics and info when you make them? I'd like to make them next spring too.

Absolutely! It needs no direct light to sprout... I rinse and soak the seeds overnight then spread it all out in trays and leave it in our spare room... blinds are closed up so doesn't get much light in there... it can get several inches tall by the end of the week, but I usually feed mine out before then...

Do you just feed them the sprouted seeds? What kind of seeds would I buy to do this? Do you lay them on damp paper towel on the trays?

Just candled and they are all still kickin

:thumbsup

Just hauled all the pumpkins I grew this summer in, as we should be getting our first frost this week. My chickens love pumpkins, and I'm hoping I can get them fed before they start to soften. I've got a food storage room in the basement, so I should be able to.

Do you smash up the pumpkin before feeding it to them? I've got three sitting here.

Look how cute

Awe! We had a pair of bantams that looked like that. Thinking about getting some in the spring :)

I've been looking at pics of the Icelandics at Whipporwill Farm, it's supposedly 1 of the biggest, most diverse Icelandic flocks in the US, I've been trying to get an idea of what they may look like when they are grown but Icelandics are all so different, there are no 2 that are alike.

Buy seeds intended for animal feed, or for human consumption. Be sure they are not heat treated, or intended for planting.

There's a conversation going on regarding pumpkins in one of the FF threads. You can let them go through multiple freeze/thaw cycles until they get slushy. The chickens will devour them then, may not be interested until they get to that point.

Can you post a link for the thread, please?

I just have to share something that I am so happy about. I have extremely easily integrated my chicks into my flock! They had a separate area in the run that was blocked off. Then I made a portal for them to get in and out. Last night they slept with no heat in the coop with the big chickens! Today they are one big happy family!
