She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

He the strong one with the sideburns they call BamBam?

Dad had a stroke before he came to stay with us that took his ability to speak. He had to go through speech therapy & learn to talk again. His therapist was working with him one day; she'd hold flash cards up & he was to tell her what picture was on the card. She held up a picture of a car, & he said "57". She says "No, Mr. Whiteside, try again". He says "57". She says "No, it's a car". He says "It's a '57 Chevrolet, da...it". He was right!

Us too!! Absolutely loved it!!  We did 90% of school outside today with chickens running all around. It was great!

Yes! I am so looking foreward to it and hoping for once they are right! Warmer and drier!!

Ok, so, anecdote:

Most of you know that I take care of my elderly father (he's 84).  I was standing in his room today talking to him and he happened to turn his head so his bedside table light illuminated the side of his face/head. I notice that his ear looked purple (the whole ear), like it wasn't getting circulation. He's been having problems with that ear. Around the inside rim amd behind it it's been sore and scabby- almost looks like psoriosis. So I step closer and make him turn his head- it's purple all right. I said "Dad, what did you put on your ear?"  He says, "That stuff you have out there...."   That stuff I have out there is the Blue Kote I bought for the chickens! God love him. Dang southerner.  ;)

Not the ending of the story I was expecting! :gig

Oh, I finally figured out the closest comparison to @BYC910...

Anyone ever watch 'Alaskan Bush People'? He's like a skinnier, taller version of Billy Brown... kinda...

I watch that!

Hello again everyone! Work has calmed down for the week so hopefully I can actually follow along in here, lol.

I hatched some absolutely adorable chicks for the Halloween hatch a long that I need to post pictures of. I had a 100% hatch rate but unfortunately a freak accident killed one of them :hit Still, the others are doing great. I'm also getting ayam cemani eggs pretty steadily so those will be going into the 'bator on a regular basis.

Speaking of ayam cemanis, someone again started a new thread talking about them, this time dissing the American birds as a whole, calling them less desirable and hybrids. They also said that there were three lines in the states - the 'Indonesian' line (which would be illegal to own since you can't import from Indonesia so...), the European line (I guess the birds from GFF? But GFF doesn't guarantee color and breeds from imperfect birds, I have a picture to prove it, so I'm not sure why these are better than other breeder's flocks?) and the 'American' line, which apparently has terrible color leakage and look like hybrids.

I really have no clue what this person is talking about. There are three legal lines in the US that I know of, but they are the GFF lines, the TMA lines, and the Mike Bean lines - and yes, with the Mike Bean lines, I could see that they are possible hybrids, my guess is with leghorns, but that's not ALL American birds. No lines are named after countries/continents. I really have no clue where people come up with this stuff.
