She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Dad had a stroke before he came to stay with us that took his ability to speak. He had to go through speech therapy & learn to talk again. His therapist was working with him one day; she'd hold flash cards up & he was to tell her what picture was on the card. She held up a picture of a car, & he said "57". She says "No, Mr. Whiteside, try again". He says "57". She says "No, it's a car". He says "It's a '57 Chevrolet, da...it".  He was right!

I care for my grandma who had a debilitating stroke like that. They amazed you sometimes didnt they?

Us too!! Absolutely loved it!!  We did 90% of school outside today with chickens running all around. It was great!

Yes! I am so looking foreward to it and hoping for once they are right! Warmer and drier!!

Ok, so, anecdote:

Most of you know that I take care of my elderly father (he's 84).  I was standing in his room today talking to him and he happened to turn his head so his bedside table light illuminated the side of his face/head. I notice that his ear looked purple (the whole ear), like it wasn't getting circulation. He's been having problems with that ear. Around the inside rim amd behind it it's been sore and scabby- almost looks like psoriosis. So I step closer and make him turn his head- it's purple all right. I said "Dad, what did you put on your ear?"  He says, "That stuff you have out there...."   That stuff I have out there is the Blue Kote I bought for the chickens! God love him. Dang southerner.  ;)

:lau

My grandpa used to use it while hunting, although he Claimed he carried it for the dogs!

And flood the southeast :smack
We haven't seen the sun since Saturday

When we see the sun, it creates himidity so high you feel a mist in the air

12 eggs. One noticably cracked. Air cells...well a few seem fine. The rest are hard to see...blue shells but I'm letting them set for a bit...poor things. TJ is a world class packer too.the last batch came here fine. Not a mark on the box and no cracks....time will tell how these guys do. They will be fighters if they make it. :)

I hope you filed a claim againt usps?!

LOL!
When and what kind of eggs are you going to set?

Hopefully will be setting Saturday. It will be a dozen EE from a local.

There's not a single side of this box that is not caved in.... I am so mad.

The eggs were packaged perfectly!!! Oh and when I went to pick the box up a the p.o the guy weighed it and handed it to me sideways!!! It says this side up and has arrows all the way around and a note on the bottom too....I have no clue how these will hatch now after being scrambled. So bummed.
These are bantam ameraucana eggs.

I don't know whether to be heartbroken or livid for you. I'm equally both.

Absolutely! Supposedly all First Class packages now have a $50 insurance on them.

I'm not filing a claim. If they were oozing and all cracked you bet ya I would. Thanks everyone for the love and support. Its amazing to have friends here that get outraged on my behalf. Most people just seem to say "meh, what do ya expect with shipped eggs."
It is a toss up for sure but I believe that it's not difficult to give extra care to a box like this.
My husband's boxes weren't this beat up after a trip to Afghanistan...although they left some in a warehouse for weeks and weeks and ultimately had a mouse build a nest in one and eat the contents...lol

If a few seem fine then you're already ahead of the game!! I think they'll be ok. Just give them a few days to heal up. Are you using an auto-turner or hand turning? I forgot I was going to say this in my previous response but I was picking eggs up at the post office and the box was clearly marked which end was up and the guy behind the counter goes over to a stack of boxes and of course my box is on its side and he picks it up and hands it to me sideways. I was thinking the same as you! Is it that hard to read the box!!?!

That's great that they are local!! I hope you have a great hatch!
