She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I took her to my vet and they scanned her and found a chip that was not registered with the database they searched. So they gave me a list of companies to call. I called one and they told me it was last updated in 2009 with Homeagain. So I called home again and they were able to tell me her name and I gave them my phone number so I should be getting a call today to get her home!!! I am happy she will be going home!!! Super sweet dog and very well mannered....we would have kept her if this didn't work out.

Good news, but a little sad that you can't keep her.

I've been waiting for eggs for 6 months! They could lay 1 a week at this point and I'd think it was a miracle!! ;) Seriously though, thank you. I'm going to write it down on the calendar, just to keep track and have something fun to do! How can you resist the urge! You have strong willpower.
Oh no!! :hugs How did the aircells look on the second package? You have a lot of beautiful eggs there, I'm sure you'll have lots of little fluffies! :fl

Thanks! Air cells....half are not yet visible.

@AmyPaperlady how are your eggs coming along????

I have had a heck of a day. I saved a little old chihuahua from being hit by cars on a gloomy raining afternoon. Spent all day trying to find her owner...if she has one. We may keep her if we can't find owners. Well trained and behaves very well with kids. I know she is some little old ladys best friend. And it breaks my heart that she is here with me and not her.
Awe. Sounds like it is going better with her than the boy we've adopted. Seems like he's been beat. Just lifting a hand to pet the side of his face or put his leash on can throw him into a snap attack. He wants to trust, you can see it in his eyes, but just simple things can set him off. Quite nervous and upset. We're trying hard with him to gain his trst, but I am afraid that even if we do what will happen when the kids come over. This is hard.

Yall shared pup pics again an i felt left out so heres my main girls...

Amy,
I'm afraid you've taken in a "fear biter". Be careful!
If you can get him to come to you, even a short distance, to be petted or leashed, it might help.

We've adopted abused dogs several times. Some can get over it, others cannot. Most can, but when you do have visitors, put him in a safe and quiet place where he won't be disturbed. Some dogs are more comfortable with a kennel they can use as a safe place. But a couple of hints...

Don't reach out to the dog. Sit down with a treat (and leash if going for a walk) and call the dog to you. Wait patiently for him to process the request and work through the trust issue. When he approaches, keep your hand below his head, where he can see it, and move slowly. Say reassuring words, speaking softly. If at the last second he pulls away, relax and start again. Once you've touched, or attached the leash, reward with a walk or a back scratch as appropriate. Avoid touching his face until he puts it in your lap.

We adopted a very loving dog who was beaten so badly that he would run by at full speed, throw out his tongue for a flying kiss, then go cower behind a sofa. It took a few YEARS before he stopped closing his eyes when we'd reach out to him.

While I hate medicating humans or animals unnecessarily, anti-anxiety medications prescribed by a veterinarian may help your dog acclimate to his new surroundings.

I've almost caved a couple of times, but I just dread the thought of brooding in the winter. I don't want to keep them in the house. Heck, I was trying to figure out how I could easily heat my woodshop building lol! And hubby won't help :(
That's the only thing that's stopped me from going to get those CLB and EE eggs, I don't want to brood anymore chicks in the house. These Icelandics are dirty little birdies and they STINK!!! I just cleaned and sanitized their brooder yesterday afternoon and it already smells HORRIBLE again. So once they're feathered out real good they're going outside with a heat lamp and that's it til spring for hatching and brooding. I really want to hatch another batch of eggs since the last 2 turned out so bad but I think I can wait a couple more months. But... if I can get my husband to buy the materials so I can build and heat something outside, all bets are off!!!

Wow, sounds like the post office gets a big thumbs down!

Best of luck with him.

If they stink, could be cocci. Treat with Corid or medicated chick starter as the sole feed and see if it clears up. Chicks should not smell that bad!

Beautiful furry children you have there. IMO, much better than buying pedigree from a breeder! So many animals need homes.

Our last dog was clearly abused: her big fear triggers: Large men, any one going near her tail, feet, fast moving children. But, she was an incredibly wonderful and smart dog.

Walnut, that's incredible that someone would come in and steal eggs right out of your house. Bet she didn't know hubby was home. Perhaps she didn't see him there? Hope you get a chance for her to make it right!
