Oh, I forgot to update on the little OEGB boy with the comb issue. I swear, I think its a pecking issue. I saw them fighting a little yesterday, and I think he's just the low boy on the totem pole. The taller, more aggressive sebright is dancing around him like he's a girl! So I'm going to separate the breeds this week, and the couple who took the other roos will be coming to get the OEGB boy real soon. All they have right now are the ones they got from me, so they are willing to take him too.

:thumbsup glad hes not sick!

Awesome quail candle pics!

Ima try some more cots soon from a more reputable dealer and we'll see what more info we can compile, i think your right, theyre so itty bitty it makes them more fragile. Then again turkeys are also super fragile but theyre larger, maybe its a game bird thing.......

Have a great day! :hugs

How are your new cots? Send me some new pics!

I crushed 2 eggs, just trying to load them between my foam strips! The few turkey eggs I incubated didn't seem nearly that fragile. But I still have to wonder if the weather didn't affect those quail eggs.

Your thinkn of the buttons being my newbies, i need to get em outside and then ill get you some new pics. Theyre still under Q in a bunny cage in my reptile room. I did give them some of my birds bedding last wk, no ones sickly so far, lastly this wkend im gna expose one of mine to them and make sure theyre not carrying anything... Hate bringing birds in from outside the property, thats the main reason i started hatching ;) (chicken math excuses :plbb :lau )

I was remmebering that you accidently crushed two. im still thinkn i would count that more toward calcium deff, but i dont have Any experience with temps like you had during that blizzard! Zilch! I do kno that the calcium deff eggs i hatched had cracks, and now i belive more than ever that cracked eggs Can hatch. I also wanna say that quail eggs are suposed to be very thick, theres a special quail egg cracking device that is sold for that fact.

Well, you already know 100% more about quail than I do

I forgot they were all still in Q. Very good of you!

And speaking of that tool, I saw that during some of my research. Weird little contraption, wasn't it!

But I tell ya, the clears that I did open, the membranes were tough as leather. I bet I could have incubated some of those hairline cracked ones!

Im probly not doing any good by impatiently putting them out, but theyre gna be in a cage unto themselves and not mixed with any of my current flocks anyways. I do not know 100% more than you do! Youve been working on it and i know that! Everyone has more to learn and i feel your going to one of the best if you really get into it.

Weird enough to make us remmeber there is one! :lau

I know i try anything that isnt seeping, and since you candle too, id suggest you try the same rather than just throwing them out. You'll be surprised! When i get the eggs from the reputable man, ill be sure to ask his opinion on quail egg shell thickness, for both of us!
