She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Nice! How many poults did you end up with?

I just stopped back in to say I just checked my quail eggs to decide whether to lock down tomorrow morning or wait till after work. There are a couple that concern me, but judging by majority, I'm locking down 16 in the morning!

Amy, your birds look great. I'll post some pics of mine tomorrow, and tell ya about the hatches I did while you were snobbing us.

Day 16 here on 13 eggs left (pulled 3 clears) First hatch of my own eggs.

5 Russian Orloff, 5 Orloff/Cream Legbar, 3 Orloff/EE.

Hope to have some chicks on Sunday!
First hatch of your own eggs is super eggsiting!!

I'm being me, dinking around. I manged a hatch 2/3. After a couple miserable attempts, I got two welsummer x araucana, one is surely a roo the other is ambiguous.

2/3 ain't bad...isn't tat what they say?? ;-)

I did way too much winter hatching, lol... but I got 24/28 Call eggs to hatch in one batch...

Holy crap girl! Adorable! Did you sell them?

Neat cakes! I definitely don't have the patience for that.
Thanks. I was pleased with how they came out. The superhero one was 6 cake mixes- a dozen and a half eggs...lol Good thing mine haven't totally stopped laying...lol

Mine are normally lounging around. But games and exercise are good for them. Broccoli was a new "toy" and after they tired out, I shredded it up and they devoured it. Word of advice, start them on greens very early.

X2

There seems to be quite the number of chicks in the frog flock. Heck, hugs are even passed out.

Oh yeah!!!

I'll send you my bill.

:lau

Oh, thank ****!! Tired of a 2nd rate fake...

:gig

Uh huh, and so is the clap.

:weee :celebrate

I think this is parade worthy!!

Welcome back Amy! :highfive:

Yay!!!!! Glad we are back together!!

So, what's been going on with everyone? I see WV is doing Quail. :thumbsup   exciting!  Anyone else hatching right now? I don't plan to start back up until the end of March.  I'm getting about 8-9 eggs a day still. For a while I was down to about 3-4 eggs a day, but they are picking back up. Just in  time for the cold snap that we are getting the rest of the week. Not looking foreward to 20 below, but next week we are supposed to be back up in the mid to high 30's. I have some winter chicken pics I took for my fb, I'll have to share some. This has been my first winter with the birds outside-luckily it's been a fair winter.

Frosty is still inside. I'm pretty sure the majority was right and it's a boy. I think I heard him crow in between the barking/yapping sound that I think is him making. I also have Peep inside because after my polish mix beating the crap out of him and I sent him off to the Amish, Elvis started antogonizing him too. So he will get his own mini quarters in the run this spring. Not sure how long he's going to be with us. His leg problems seemed to be doing so good once he was out in the coop then after the others picking on him, he just seemed to go the other way, but we will see.

Plan for this spring is to add a small silkie house. Ruby is going  to send me some of her eggs and I am going to breed pure silkies and hopefully at some point, SG's and my Spitzes. I now have just one roo for each coop and going to keep it that way-it's so much easier than dealing with the testosterone. So all birds out of coop one will be mixes and all birds out of coop 2 will be fathered by the Spitz roo, so most will be mixes and my spitz's eggs will be pure. I plan to hatch out some more Spitz if the girl still has them, cause I only have one hen. So I will pull half a dozen mixes probably to sell and have a few more pures in there. Then I will have my silkie coop. That is the plan anyway.

That's great!!! I have some SLP crosses in the bator now. Coming up on day 5...most of them were over 3 weeks old and a few were refrigerated. And only 3 fresh eggs. So 11 eggs total. We shall see what happens!!!!
