Highest lumens you can find! Check out the packaging, it should give you a lumens number. I got a tactical flashlight that is 325 lumens, but the batteries are hard to find and expensive. I normally use one that is 300 lumens because it uses AAA batteries. Dont bother with those cheap ones that are only like 20 lumens. Wasting your money. And I like LED better, but as long as its bright, it doesn't really matter. JMO

ETA - keep fresh batteries on hand too. They make a huge difference that isn't as noticeable when using the flashlight normally, but candling makes a big difference

Gah, I just picked up a flashlight yesterday, just a cheap $5 one at Lowes (because I knew my kids would steal it!!) and I googled the lumens... 40. 40 lumens. That's not going to help me much! Back to the hardware store I guess!

So we are getting our TV/Phone and internet switched over to TWC (hope I don't regret this), so we'll be w/o for a while. Hope it doesn't take too long. He's outside working on it now. The chickens are ticked cause I haven't let them out yet as I don't want them to get in his way...lol

My girls have been like this lately! I don't usually let them out, they have a fairly large run for the 3 of them, but as I've been doing stuff in the yard the past few weeks I've let them out occasionally. Now every day they just pace in front of the run door.

So....I went to put the breese cross eggs in lockdown and one egg was already cheeping at me. The silkie eggs I had to lockdown all died! . Ruby!!!! I am so sad. 4 made it to day 14 then I lost 2 and day 18 that's today I lost another and the last one does not look good!

I have BCM eggs coming, new incubator is a Genesis 1588, I have 2 now

I have 2 BCM roosters and I'm hoping that their young, clumsy butts are getting the job done with the ladies. All of a sudden I'm fearing clear eggs when I candle. I had removed the dominant rooster from the pen a few weeks prior to collecting eggs. He is a calico cochin and was a busy boy.

Usually Amazon will have something cheaper than the Brinsea website, even with the code, once you add on the shipping charges. Well, on the Octagons and supplies, anyway. I've never seen the Ova Easy on there

FYI for any Brinsea shoppers, I got a scratch and dent model for 40% off on Amazon and it's in perfect shape. Worth the risk since you can return it if you need to.

I have one that's 1000 lumens and it works pretty good. I rigged a toilet paper roll onto it and covered any light leakage with duct tape.

Amy I forgot to mention, I put some lightning (TCS-1000 thermostat) to Bride of Franenbator and SHE'S ALIVE! SHE'S ALIVE!

I'm going to use it as a hatcher. I can set 6 dozen eggs now between the BrinZea and the Brinsea and have a dedicated hatcher that should hold 3 doz at a time.

I pulled 4 eggs today and 'disposed' of them properly. I have 9 eggs that are growing!!!!!!! I SO hope I can get them to hatch.

I don't know what happened. They just aren't growing properly. They have very funky veining. The Breese crosses are doing great! Including the one with the sideways air cell.

What was the humidity at? I found Silkie eggs don't do well with lower humidity...
