She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I've done pretty well with CL so far, haven't even put anything on FB yet. Have had quite a few inquiries about older chicks too. Hubby said "sell the ones outside"... Then how do I get more eggs? I'd have to buy them. No, I'll just hatch more of my own, and if that means raising them to laying age, then at least I get to select the best ones to keep, and sell the others!

howdy to all you hatchers........

we had a good two weeks......

we sold all 30-something of our week old chicks we hatched from our second hatch.

sold all but 3 hens, and 3 roosters from the 20-something 10 week olds, from our first hatch.

while I was cooking breakfast this weekend, I paid attention to the eggs, our eggs from our hens and rooster, and had 90% both days.....so it's looking up for the BertS clan to be hatching again soon.

This time it will be OUR EGGS!
Yay!

There you go!

Good morning everyone!!!!! Tomorrow is day 14 on my SLP and SS eggs. So I will be candling and marking as per norm. I'm excited because I didn't realize I would already be locking down in 5 days!!!! :yiipchick. Then I got Ruby's eggs I ordered last Thursday. So I let them rest for 12 hours then I stuck them angled in a carton to keep aircells up. Not my typical way but trying something different. TEmPS Are Holding Steady At 100 To 101 And HUMIDITY I Will NOT Let DROP Below 40%. (Sorry about the all caps and random caps my phone is tweeking out ). I just candled last night to check fertility and well....all 15 are growing. One looks questionable like maybe an early quitter or about to quit but that's 100% on shipped eggs!!! :yiipchick

Wow! That's great! :celebrate

I almost forgot I have some to lock down this week too! These staggered hatches are keeping me on my toes! :D

I hit 14 tomorrow too...just not until 10 tomorrow night!! lol
How did the air cells look? I had a few slightly wobbly, but they firmed right up. Only one of mine didn't start developing and I had three that quite as soon as they started, only progressed the the veining for the "blood Island". The other 14 look great. I've been trying to keep mine above 40% too cause those little buggers loose moisture pretty quick.

I had a hard time seeing the air cells on the first night. Hence the carton hatching option. ;) and now they are doing great. It does look like some might be slightly wobbly but nothing bad. Keeping them propped up has helped out alot!!!

I couldn't see the air cells on a lot of mine for a couple days...lol Only the 3 or 4 that I could tell wobbled were really the ones I could see.

First duck has hatched, it is ancona duck. Three other duck eggs are external pipped and one turkey egg. So the hatch has started....so excited! I have to pull myself away from the incubator window. .lol

Lock down tonight on my first shipped eggs. I think I'm currently at 4 live eggs from that group. But, will set all 6, just in case I've made a mistake. Second group (12 eggs, also shipped) due to lock down tomorrow, so I'll lock them down at the same time. I'm not sure how I'll put them... the first 4 have horrid air cells, and they're huge. The second group has some saddles, but are not bad. Air cells on this group are sized acceptably. 3rd group (my gender selected eggs) is in other bator, due to hatch Sunday, then there's a lone turkey poult in the bator with that last group. He's not due to hatch until next Friday. Not sure what to do with him with all the juggling going on! I expect to leave him right where he is until perhaps the first bator is empty, then do a quick sterilization, and move him in there.
