Lil' Bit is up to her old tricks again; she's "pretending" to be broody. On the days she has an egg to lay she sits in the nest for hours, from early morning till afternoon. If I go into the coop she growls and if I dare go near her she bites. In the afternoon she finally gets up and re-joins the flock.
I'm tempted to make her a pen w/nestbox on the screened porch for a couple of days to see what happens.
Is it normal for a hen to take so long on the nest w/o being truly broody? Several of my hens don't like to be disturbed on the nest, but they don't take it to extremes that LB does.
