My Light Sussex started squatting about 2 weeks before she started laying at 40 weeks. Her eggs are pretty huge though, so I suppose the wait was worth it

So, 8 days after the 1st squat and we have a beautiful little egg!

So since 1 of the other girls starting squatting around the same time, we are expecting her to lay her 1st egg any day now...
It's amazing how you can read their body language and know they are going to lay.
'Wilma' our 1st layer today was trying to nest in some grass while they were out free ranging this morning, so I picked her up and put her in 1 of the nesting boxes and she started to sing the 'egg song'. Very shortly after, she jumped out and there the egg was..

I have 4 black sexlinks that are 23 weeks. They have been squatting for at least the past 3 weeks, and still no eggs. I'm starting to think my girls are barren!

Hi everybody, I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering who was still waiting for eggs, or how long the wait was for those that now have eggs?? Thanks
