But now I'm not so sure what she is! Can anyone help? I'm sorely disappointed because the agreement in my family was that we could get six productive chickens and I could have ONE fancy, ornamental chicken! So we got three Leghorns and three Ambers. I decided on a Polish and went to pick her out from Coastal a few days ago. I knew she and a couple others looked a bit different from the other chicks in the bin, but I was inexperienced and figured her little conical poof hadn't arrived yet. Needless to say, she's now my chicken and I can't get a Polish in addition to her. So now I'd just like to know what she is! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think she's a Plymouth Rock, I posted in the Raising Chicks section a couple days ago and a few people sported their agreement. What do you all think?

Sorry, it took longer than expected to upload the pics! There seems to be something different about her beak. It doesn't look like my other chicken's beaks, I was wondering if it is a defect? Thank you!

she looks also similar to my Cuckoo Marans. But I hear they look a lot like a Barred Plymoth Rock....

does she have a single comb? It looks unlike a single comb in the pics.... Also if its gonna be barred it will have a white spot on the back/top of its head, and it looks like this chick does not have it?

It could be a hatchery-quality Crevecoeur. The nostrils look a bit cavernous to me....but it's lacking a crest?

Part the fluff where a comb will be & look at it. Is it forked?

Did you call back the store and ask which hatchery these came from? That will help narrow it down.

Well it's cute whatever it turns out to be. May be a good thing too. Sometimes it is hard to have a polish in with others. Often they get attacked and their crests pulled out!

Hi guys! I went out and parted her fluff and she doesn't seem to have a comb! What's the relevance of her cavernous nostrils? Is it possible her comb got pecked off? Or are some breeds combless? Thank you for your continued help, I want to solve this mystery!

Also, she doesn't have any white on the back of her head. It feels like she has a tiny bump on the top of her head but that could just be me being a dope. Her head doesn't feel much different than the other chicks. Her legs are black/grey.

Wow, that poor chick doesn't even have a crest, or a vaulted skull, or even beard/muffs! And yet still the cavernous nostrils. Interesting.

What could this mean? It IS so super interesting because her nostrils are different than the other chicks. She also is super tiny compared to the rest.
