She Was The Mystery Egg - And She's A....??

If she was a cochin mix she should have at least a little feathering on her legs.

Are her legs green? Or are they swarthy? Swarthy is a mix of yellow and black. She looks similar to a buckeye, but they are supposed to have yellow legs. She doesn't look like she has muffs or a beard which she should if she is EE with a pea comb. Not all EE have muffs and beard but I've yet to see a pea-combed EE without muffs and beard.

So my vote is for buckeye.

This is my late Speedy. She is an EE from Ideal had no muffs or beard, but laid blue eggs while the other 2 with the muffs and beard laid green eggs lol.

I still say this girl is a buckeye, she looks nothing like an EE.

I received a reply from the person who sent me the eggs and she said this:

"I think this hen came from my Americanas. If she lays a blue egg you'll know for sure. But I do have some Black Austerlop hens with my Americana rooster"

I looked at the buckeye images from the net and they do look like her but if the seller of the eggs does not have any buckeye could she be what she says it might be?

Did she hatch from a blue egg? If not, she won't lay blue eggs. Did you ask if the seller had buckeyes?

Not a Buckeye nor is she a R.I. Red, Buckeyes and R.I. Reds have Yellow legs.

She is just a cross breed and may or may not be a EE cross.

I agree with cochin/ee...my RIR are darker, could be NH though, but the tail feathers scream cochin.
Edited to add.... curious, How old?

If the person only had certain breeds then she must be a mix of those breeds. I would see what color egg she lays. Find out exactly what the breed has then list those maybe we can get a good idea from the breeds she has.
