She wont move and she wont eat.

I'm no expert, so I don't know what is wrong with her for sure. But she kinda sounds like my hen when it's hot out. She rests alot. Will eat, poop, drink, do everything chicken, but will rest more then usual. She will stand or lay down and close her eyes. Her head will tilt/fall as tho she's dosing off. A sudden movement will zap her out of it, but only opens her eyes. She herself does not move.
Another thing to look into is if she's of laying age mabey she's eggbound? They will act like this this also, but show little intrest in food untill they lay that egg. Just a few more sugestions for you. I hope she feels better soon.
Good Luck!
I know how you can feel helpless. I've been there. I think most of us have.

I'm sorry Trey. I just don't know what to tell you, but I feel badly for you. You remind me a lot of me when I was your age.

Hang in there.

Gosh, Trey

I feel so bad for you. Please dont give up. I know how excited you were about getting them, geez. What a way to start. I think you have just had awful crappy wet weather and anything might have a hard time in those conditions.

You cant get her to eat oyster shell when she is not feeling well, better to just try to keep her hydrated (make sure she drinks, has watermelon, or somethin where she gets water in her system and not go TOO long without eating even if its grapes, or rice or somethin she really likes.

I know your other hen had the pox probably and since its contagious, perhaps they are all fighting the crud as hard as they can.

I sure wished I knew what to tell you, its been rotten luck for you. Zoolander still has the bad eye? I will send good vibes to you AND your chickens.

Hugs

Jill

thanks.
i dont WANT to give them away but ive had nothing but bad luck with them.. i think it was the batch from the hatchery b/c i went up there and i saw some roosters with huge combs and they had big bumps on them (normal?)
so idk.
and as for the little one she basicly has no eye lid. it is all moist and gross no puss though i tryed neosporin and she just rubs it off.
and as for big mamma she cant roost on anything so i put her on top of her nest box i hope she is alive tomarrow (today it 3:00) idk what to do if she dies it would be just zoolander and im going out of town for a week to oklahoma and my parents are going to take care of them but she would be very lonely and my mom said no more chickens untill i get back from oklahoma...
would it be an exception.. she is my favorite hen

dang this really suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is like they hate me!

i think it is the misquitos that are getting to them..
we have that new misquito diseases going around in our zip code so.. idk.
we are going to put screen on the top vents and the doors of the coop.

wish me luck.

..that is also an indication of an electrolyte imbalance and adding sugar is not going to correct that... go to your feed store and get some electrolytes (or in a pinch as said before, human electrolytes >called ORS or Oral RehydrationSalts< or gatorade will do)...dehydration will kill your bird QUICK so dont worry about her not eating the oystershell at this point in time... also, offer your birds watermelon during the day as they will often peck at that when refusing to drink...

I'm so sorry - this happens with chickens - don't give up. Wait a little while and order some more - you can order as few as 3 from mypetchicken.com and pick out the kinds you want. Having new babies always helps take your mind off your loss.
