she won't stop crowing...this is serious....

Wow, I'm still pondering the OP that said to keep her from being able to stretch her neck.....that might be an easy fix if it works...

But incase it doesn't you may want to try this....

I saw that you had her kept separated in the shed...when my Brother was in a band they had to "sound proof" our garage. What they did was to get styrofoam egg cartons and glue them on the walls of the garage. Now I realize that 1- styrofoam egg cartons are hard to come by (and they have to be styro and not cardboard) and 2- since you're getting eggs from hens you prolly don't have egg cartons laying around anyway....but...
You could try to set up a "cube" area in your shed that was just big enough for her to roost and a small amount of stretching room....but line that with either styrofoam panels you can buy at Home Depot OR take styrofoam cups filled with balled up newspaper and glue them to the wall and cover them with a sheet of cardboard to keep the hen from pecking them...
This would give the hen a sound proof roosting area and then in the day she could join the others....

Just an idea

Have you tried to invent a "chicken muzzle". Just like the ones that you can put on a dog that is barking too much. That sounds like a solution I would do!

I have posted the same problem a while ago, but this is what has helped in my case:

One night I seperated my crowing hen (she was the Alpha Hen....) in a nice card board box with water and feed and kept her in the garage.

I kept her in the box for 4 days, moved the box outside during the day, but away from my other girls. After 4 days I had her roaming free in the front yard, but still kept her in the box at night in the garage to keep her safe from predators.

After a week I have just put her back in the chicken run with the other girls. She had to find her way back into the flock, sleeps with all the others in the coop, but has never crowed again since then (knock on wood).

I guess, she is not the Alpha hen anymore.......

Hope it will help you as well, good luck!!!

i am afraid I will have this problem but my hen keep each other in check I have had no head hen for over a month ! they seem to challenge each other over diffrent things that are important to them (laying space, food, and treats good luck with your hen
