I'm in love with my new Babydoll sheep.  They are just wonderful.  They are the original sheep brought to NA and are a heritage breed now, and considered a miniature as they are only 18 - 20 in high av.   They are a spinner's sheep as the fleece is like cashmere and great for small farms.  They make the best pets and are very friendly.  They do however also have good meat/milk if you are so inclined.   I would highly recommend these sheep to anyone .  Very easy to keep.  
I too read the Living with Sheep and did a lot of research and planning before I got them and it was worth it.  I have 4 and got them as lambs so won't breed them till this fall.
