Shell less duck egg with broken yolk next to it

I’m sorry but I did laugh out loud while reading. We’ve all had those crappy (literally) days. I’m glad you got some really useful information from the vet. Did they say where the source of extra vitamins were likely coming from? And how treatable the egg laying issue is?
:D I love laughter, sometimes it's the only thing that can get you through! Extra vitamins are coming from being on the wrong feed and to much kale. Kale should only be given twice a week. The vet wants her to stop laying, when I asked how we would go about that she said something about hormone therapy......I just shook my head like....wonder what the cost on that is going to be!!

View attachment 1219102 Ok so taking Bill and Ted to the vet today was, shall we call it.....the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good, I had absolutely no trouble getting them into their pet carrier. I just scooped them up and put them in :celebrateplus they gave me two poop samples on the way there!!! Frustrating part was being there for almost 3 hours due to an emergency/injured bird being brought in. So my vet appointment was inconsistent in means of talking, she would come in and ask a question then halfway through me giving my answer...she would have to abruptly leave....and then come back and do the same thing over. But I understand the urgency and since it was the day after Christmas, my patience pulled through.

The bad (ok probably not all that bad but still) 1st Ted is getting too much Vitamin A which would explain the reason why he looks yellow:eek:here I thought he was going through a molt of some sort. I have been instructed to get them on a only duck feed. The vet would like Bill to be on a duck layer feed due to the egg laying issue and Ted to be on a duck maintenance feed. Welp.....our local feed store did have a duck feed but it is an all around feed (as per usual someone else telling me that "this feed" is great both for layers and non layers???? Idk about this but I will investigate later tonight) I will post a picture tomorrow as I already have the bag open and out in the shed, I can't remember the name.

And the ugly.... they both had bad bacteria in their poop test. I had told the vet that Ted has been kinda favoring his left foot and she said that both have some inflation in the joints and Clostridium bacterial infection.
Bill has to be on 250mg tab of Chloramphenicol- 1 tab in the AM and 2 tabs at night.
Also Bill has to be on Rimadyl orally at .75 mls X2 daily

Ted has to be on 250mg tab of Chloramphenicol- 1 tab in the AM and 1 tab at night.
Also Ted has to be on Rimadyl orally at .4 mls X2 daily

All of the above for 14 days....

Day one of mess was a rough go... well Ted took his like champ and bill gave me a major fight, I lost one of the pills in the straw (the freaking pill is yellow and so is the straw:he) I wrapped the pills in white bread and soak it in the oral meds......worked for one duck but not the other. Tomorrow is another day....

It has been a long day but both are doing good!
@casportpony Bill took her pills tonight but also grabbed teds pill that was stuff in a watermelon out of my hand, so in all she took three pills! Is this ok? I figured I wouldn't give her one in the AM.....

Okay, so she just got one more than she's supposed to, so I'm sure that's fine. If she were mine I wouldn't worry and I would give the pill in the morning.
Ok! Sounds good. I was recording my notes and thought" oh crap maybe I should check with someone before I go assuming it would be ok"

Thanks a bunch for your fast response:D

Ok last question, since Ted gave me such a fight this morning with his pill, I ended up giving up 40 minutes later. Should I give him 2in the morning now? Just for tomorrow morning and then resume normal
