SHELL LESS EGG??!?????

When i went downtstairs to our coop (built in) they were scratching around and something expolded and i looked at it and this is what i found!!! I have no laying hens in that coop. Could it have been a shell less egg??

That could be the remains of a shellless or thin shelled sandpaper egg, can't tell scale from the picture. When you say there are no laying hens in the coop, I take it there are pullets or old hens?

You have no laying hens in that coop? Anybody close? What do you mean it exploded, lol!
 
Would guess you have a pullet starting to lay and she happened to lay a really thin shelled egg, they are pretty common with young layers and usually nothing to worry about . They are sort of like water balloons and break really easily.
