Shell picked off of egg due any day

Little stephie is very weak. I hope that’s just because she excerted so much energy yesterday, but I do have my doubts. She also is still wet? Or mabye sticky? I hope she is just tired from the long hatch. Or do you think that taking the large peice of shell off was a bad idea?maybe it made it too easy? I just want this baby to be ok

Poor thing, doesn't look sticky to me. I have found that most incubator-hatched chicks look like that and aren't entirely fluffy until a while later. Do you have nutridrench? It's great for perking littles up, especially after tough hatches.

I dont, but i can get some after work. I am going to TSC fro bedding anyways. She does not feel sticky, but she doesn't feel wet either. more like crunchy?

Yeah, could be a little bit of goop... with small amounts like that I generally just roll the fluff between my fingers until it's freed. Running around under momma might do it too.

If she were a sticky chick, you'd know. I had one once---poor thing was covered in a hard shell of feathers with plates at the joints. :sick
She was from a tough assisted hatch where she got stuck at night whilst I was sleeping. When I found her she was entirely glued in.

I agree with Nutridrench. It's miracle stuff! A small bottle is only about 6 bucks at TSC. It's a very fast acting vitamin that gets in their blood stream pronto. Wipe your finger on the dropper, the transfer a bit to the side of the baby's beak. Then follow that with a few drops of clean water. Do this a couple times, and she'll perk up. :love
