No, darkwing, my alpha is my other female beside lucky and ostara the newbie. They all go for lucky I dont see them on darkwing only sometimes but only in the water. Darkwing is a Rouen. She was the only one who when I pulled her from the group as babies she didn't start the alarm wha wha wha. She would follow me from room to room and she would chill on my chest and watch TV with me.

I wish I could make a wing protector for lucky. Like a back shield so they don't make her wings raw. She doesn't go in the water very much or for too long. I cant blame her. It's supposed to warm up soon, maybe that will help. I'm just at a loss of what to do for her besides keep her separated. She gets pissed at me when I spray vetricin on her. And yikes that no pec lotion is stinky and stains my hand. Was considering it just for the healing aspects it has in it....

Ok, truthfully I am just gonna have to lay it this out there, and please don't be upset with me....but you really are going to need to separate her with no other males for awhile. Your best opportunity is now with your newbie. They will end up bonding which will be good for the flock in its entirety. She is rough looking and needs a break. Yes she will be mad but it won't last long. I say if you can give her a good mouth with the newbie...she will be very thankful come mid spring. Give her some cat food, that will give her the added protein that will make her feathers shine again.

Seriously, I don't mean to upset you and I know you have a lot on your plate with these ducks and a toddler but right now is the time to do it with the newbie. Please keep us posted on your thoughts, with much love, onaharley

She gets very upset when i put her alone with ostara or if she is unable to be close to howard. She cries really loud. I have come to that conclusion that she needs to be separated from everyone. Even darkwing picks fits with her. Makes me really upset. My males are fighting horribly i can barley eat to be honest. They built two houses right on top of me. People thought i was building a garage that's how close it is. So I know they hear my ducks. So I feel bad in the morning when i let them out if I separate lucky and howard bC she will just wha wha wha mad loud. Oh well, like you said she needs the break. And please don't ever be afraid to speak your heart. People need to hear a gentle truth sometimes. ♥️I think if I make a decision to put whoever in the coop, i need to do it and walk away not spend so much time outside meddling. Its not good for me or them. Meditation ...more time with my candles but the kid makes that impossible. That's half the problem. I have no time or space to try to think.

I get it...I really do understand where you are coming from. I have one hen and one drake and he is putting the the beats her. I have them separated as much as I can and it kills me to hear her crying when separated but I know that if I don't stand my ground...it's gonna hurt her in the end. Once they get use to the rotation they will calm down. See ducks like routine, the same thing day in and day out... it will take time. Even if you just sit with her and the newbie until they get use to it. I feel for you, I really do!

Thank you, it's very comforting knowing someone understands. I do that I sit in the coop with her so she knows shes protected. It is making howard more aggressive towards the other guys getting stuck home alot.

May will my 1st year anniversary having ducks, so I am learning just like you. It's hard taking care of these guys! 5 am comes quick when your not going to bed until....well here shortly. I know you worry just like like me, I can tell. The BYC has been so good at helping and it's been a blessing meeting everyone here. And know that we all have the same goal in hand....having fun and making sure our feathered babies are taken care! We are all here you! It will get better....I can promise you that!!!

Thank you!♥️ Yes me too! May will be my one yr ducky mom anniversary. I took your suggestions and put lucky and ostara together. I also put some cat food in there for them as it's mostly fish flavors. Im hoping ostara might eat some. I sat there with them for a few and then came in. I don't hear her wha wha wha so that's good.

Awesome!! You won't regret. :hugsand cheers to us both for being new duck momma's!
So remind me again...you currently have 3 females and 5 males? Have you thought about placing a post in your state thread here on the BYC to try and rehome some of your drakes? Also if you are on Facebook there is a group that is called Backyard Ducks that has 30k plus members from all over the world. It might be a good start to rehoming your drakes. Jsut tossing some ideas out there....
