Dixie is a boy. I've always thought she was.

I think Shadow is definitely a girl. The legs.. the barring.. Very girly.

Barred rocks feather in slower than other breeds because their barring has to match up. Boys feather in slower than girls out of the breed, but I wouldn't base a theory of her being a boy against say a cochin or something that is not barred.

I wish I lived closer. I'd take Dixie off your hands

I would say Dixie is a cockerel and Shadow is a pullet.
