My little Hazel EE started laying a couple of weeks ago and since then has laid a large, sage green egg 5 days out of 6. She's also, IMO, a very pretty girl. She was brutally attacked by a hawk yesterday and while the hawk got nothing but feathers, it did pull quite a handful out of her back plus 5 tail feathers. Hazel smoothed her feathers out as best as she could and laid her egg today like nothing happened.

for Clark the mild-mannered EE cockerel who fearlessly attacked the hawk and sent it packing! I didn't know he had it in him!

Wow! She is quite the trooper! I would love to see a picture of her. I have 3 EE's and only one is laying so far...a beautiful blue egg. But I would love to see your girl and her egg.

This was her first egg (they're now the same size as the brown ones you see next to it):

She is lovely! and so is the egg. That's a very nice color, especially next to the brown. Isn't it wonderful to open up a carton and see all the range of colors?

She looks just like my trixie...a cutie and great egg layer too..

So glad hazel is ok

Awesome! She is beautiful. I have a gal who hasn't started laying yet looks just like that..I am hoping for that nice an egg soon! Her name is Chakka Kahn the Americauna:

Hazel better be getting some R-E-S-P-E-C-T! What a super trooper and such a beautiful lady. She looks just like my 14wk EE pullet Lady Hawk. We thought she was a he for the longest time but I was corrected.
