IMO, I would take any other eggs she lays from now until hatch date. Cute babies! Thanks Duckgirl. She is about 7.5 months old. She just started laying about 3 weeks ago.
Here is a link to a recent post of my rouens. They are at that cute/ugly stage. Will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/33400/updated-pics-of-my-rouen-ducklings
Still wondering if I should leave all the eggs with her or take some once she stops.![]()
Today is the 2nd day that she sat on the nest for most of the day. From what I understand, she'll stop laying when she is determined to set and officially go broody.
I'm just wondering because she is still laying, at least as of this morning. I have heard of muscovy hatching up to 20 something babies, I don't know that she could cover that many. I was thinking removing the older eggs that have been sitting there would be better.

Well, she hasn't left her nest yet today. I did remove her to see if she is still laying and there are now 14 eggs under her! So, she is still laying. I am now letting my drake out in the yard (when my schedule permits it) and leaving my hen (and my 6 Rouen ducklings) in the duck run so my chickens can't disturb her.
My rouens are 4 weeks and 2 days and have been sharing the duck run (with a fence between the two) for 3 weeks. My muscovy pair would sit and watch them for hours. A few days ago I figured I would see how my hen would respond to them and it did not go well. She ran after them grabbed one and pulled out some down. I am thinking that integrating them may take longer since she is broody. At least I have enough space to keep them seperated. I don't dare try to intro my drake to them yet.![]()
But anyway, I'm gonna have ducklings in around 1 month from now!!!!!!!![]()

Thanks Miss Lydia. I am really looking forward to it.
On a different note, I decided to take the Rouens on a walk around the yard today. I got myself a long thin stick just in case my drake caused any problems. He reacted alot better than I thought he would. He kind of chased one but then they ran away from him but he did not go after them. I am mom to them so they just follow me which in this case is a bery good thing. I am hoping he will be a good dad and I won't have to seperate him because I don't know where I would put him. If I build something else in the backyard DH will probably no longer be DH.Right now I have the chicken coop and run ( about 8 X 8), the duck run ( 10 X 15 ) and a pen for my meaties ( 7 X 7 ). I am only in the suburbs and have a good size yard for here but it is still just a yard.![]()
I hope he's a good dad.![]()
