wow, you really think it was a cat? that'd be bad. there's a feral cat that seems to be camped out in my barn.... i hope it doesn't get a taste for chicken. i do think he/she/it is finding some of the eggs and that's why i'm not getting as many as i'd expect to find.

Sorry for your loss. Bloody by water? I don't think I've seen my cat kills be very bloody. Coon maybe? Especially if she's by the water since coons like to dip their food in to it before eating?

Well since it was overnight I think what happened was the cat had dragged her by the face and she fell in her water. (The water's right next to where she sleeps)
So the cat didn't want to fish her out and then left.
That's what I think.
She was really bloody on her face.
