Shes having seizures, help!

We thought it was heat related at first because he was laying inside the coop, but we brought him in immediately and ran him a lukewarm bath and he was having issues breathing. We checked his throat and could not find any reason for it. We went online to check for possible causes and by the time we checked on him, he had passed. Its murder seeing your baby suffering and unable to stop it. I take these things super hard and cannot help blaming myself. My fiance tells me we did all we could, but still hard to accept.

it really is hard the feeling of helplessness and letting them down

but sometime like with your drake it happens so fast and they hide things so well they can go down super fast. We've all been there most likely. You just have to go on and love and care for the ones we have and hope and pray it doesn't happen again. I have lost 3 to old age and even that is hard. Even though they were old and I knew it could happen.

Unfortunately the next night my fiance found our White Pekin Han had died too. We immediately sanitized the coop and cleaned out any remnants of the straw that was suspect and I put instead a blanket in there for them. So far no more casualities, we bought new straw and will replace in coops this weekend. We are taking back all the leftover straw from suspect batch to feed store and letting them know it was responsible for killing two of our ducks.

So very sorry.

Hopefully the rest will be fine..

I appreciate it. We are having a rough week and its seem eerily quiet since those two passed. The other drakes I believe are upset and have been quiet and toned down. It also made us realize that the two that passed were the ringleaders for everything since the two remaining are more reserved and quiet. My fiance misses all the racket and duck talk the others created everytime we came outside to see them. We are thinking about getting more ducks in the future probably females for the eggs, as that was the initial reason for getting them, but as luck would have it, we got mostly drakes and did not have the heart to let them go even so. Seems nature took care of that for us and we are not happy about it. The ratio has gotten better, but we wish it was the way it was.

I know I love all the banter the females do together. I also love the quiet talk of the drakes too. We never had ducks that quacked having Muscovy since 2004 just had Runners and Buffs hatch u nder some of my scovy's this past may. We love all the girls talking and the funny things they do.
I hope soon you can again enjoy it too. Maybe consider ordering just females so you can balance out you ratio.

Yeah I think that will be plan next. We have enough Chickens currently for us, but with the two losses, now more than ever I am feeling a void with our ducks. My fiance actually told the two drakes yesterday we would get them more females haha. I hope they cheer up soon. We like all of ours to be different to easily tell them apart and so our neighbors ducks who are always in our yard are nothing like ours and we know who the trespassers are. Leia our eldest duck just started laying and I can honestly say we only know her as a hybrid, but not sure what type she is. I would love if anyone could give us idea.

Maybe a Khaki/Rouen hybrid.

This is not the best picture either, but she is definitely part Khaki Campbell I believe and our guess was maybe Rouen too based on striping on face. She has gradations of brown on wing not unlike our Khaki Campbell drake Wicket. She is also the sassiest little duck of our bunch. She has taken to fussing at us as much as the hens do for mealworms. Our Silver Appleyard Rey, is very quiet compared to her.
