Hello. I have a young Welsummer that just began laying. I looked it up, because I didn't think I had gotten any white egg layers, and I learned that Welsummers, as I thought, are dark chocolate colored egg layers, yet Raptor is laying white, very small, eggs. I thought it was my bantam laying them at first. What's the deal?

Maybe she didn't

know she was supposed to lay brown eggs.

They told me she was a Speckled Sussex at the Farm Store, but that is obviously not the case. I guess I'm not sure exactly what she is anymore. She LOOKS like a Welsummer, but maybe not. I was concerned she was a rooster at first, since she didn't look anything like a Speckled Sussex, and had a very predominate comb and waddle. Then I remembered they had been selling Welsummers from the same bin and looked up pictures online and made my next prediction.

Do the Leghorns have that yellowish ear area? Raptor has that very predominant ear area that the Leghorns seem to have, where it looks like the Welsummers do not....

I'm having the same problem. My New Hampshire Red just started laying and she has white eggs slightly smaller than the one from my sex-links. She has red ear lobes... I'm so confused.
