Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Such a terrible thing to happen! I’m so sorry. 😞
They have a good life compared to store bought eggs and meat.
I have 2 CX left, 18 weeks now, and they were hiding. I always thought they were easy targets . Same with the old lame and half blind roosters. But they are smart enough to hide I guess.
Turns out no one targeted has a chance.

Close to getting flowers on my pepper plants

I've been using an application on my mobile phone a lot recently. The application is called Yuka. It's a rating program for foodstuffs.

I know Molpet uses it and maybe some others on this thread.
I've had a few shockers. A bar of 90% dark chocolate. Can't go far wrong one might have thought. Scanned it with Yuka and Yuka practically shouted "Don't Eat It." Apparently the coca plant is heaving with pesticides.
At the other extreme. a microwavable curry which one would have thought a complete no no got an excellent rating. A lot more than 5 ingredients in that.
I Haven't found any cheese Yuka is happy about.

Yup. I stopped eating chocolate entirely; even the no sugar, extra dark organic stuff because of that.

Having looked into it a bit deeper the pesticide problem also applies to a lot of the imported veg one finds on the supermarket shelves, many of them banned in the UK.
