She's worse than a rooster!

I hope so too! I don't know if the entertainment's going to help though. Because talking all of this through has made me realize I think she is most adamant about laying her damn egg on the couch on the porch. With or without the nest we attempted to use to acclimate her. Maybe what really needs to happen is my husband needs to stop caving and giving her what she wants to quiet her dying pterodactyl act and hope that eventually she can adapt to a new norm. Don't get me wrong when he's not around I try. But so far she will hold that egg in and b**** like a banshee till she gets her prime spot. Because half the time it works. Maybe I just need to keep them all locked up for a week until she is forced to conform. Do you think she'd be insistent enough to become egg-bound? Is that strictly an uncontrollable occurrence or could they literally hold one in and make it happen?
I mean I wouldn’t think they could egg bind themselves. I always think back to when my first hen started laying. She would frantically look for a spot. In and out of the nest box, corner to corner of the yard, sit for a few minutes, throw bedding around, repeat. Until finally it seemed to just plop out in the middle of the yard on her way to the next stop on her search for the perfect spot 🤣 so I think eventually it just comes out.

I was thinking the same thing! Like maybe just force her to conform so she will stop harassing the peace around here! Watch me be back on in 2 weeks going WTF do I do now!? 🤣😆 she's currently quite unbearable tho. Something has go to give...

When I found my bantam chicken she would crow like this all day long. I work from home and she lives inside with me so I thought I was going to go insane. Two things I discovered, #1 - she did not like her enclosure so I built her a bigger one, and #2 - she just wanted to be with me because she was lonely, so I let her sit with me while I work. She is super quiet now...never really hear a peep out of her. Make your chicken happy. They have souls, they aren't just egg producers. :)

This is the loudest most obnoxious chicken ever. Nothing wrong with her, she's healthy, eats and poops normal and lays everyday. This is taken from up on the porch so I'm not even close to her. This is how we spend every morning trying to drink our coffee. Because she wants to come out. It's worse than a rooster. It goes on and on and on and it's so obnoxious! It gets even louder and weirder sounding but of course they never do it for the recorder. We don't want them out all day. We had been letting them out early though because we didn't have the big run finished and they're in a smaller one in the meantime. But now it's finished and she wants out in the morning. Starting to drive us nuts every morning!

Yep, been there and I refused to keep it. It is all modeling behavior that works for attention just like a crying child that always gets her way! Stop responding to it and it will quit or give it away.

We had a chicken like that. We do let ours have the run of the back yard during the day, and we knew when she was up. So did the neighbors, her demands for release were so vociferous. She was also our friendliest chicken, the alpha of the flock and a good gardening companion. She passed away suddenly about 2 months ago. I miss her.... including her morning songs.

Oh and she will also do this to the other hens if one's in the nest box she likes. She'll stand there and do it until they get out instead of using an empty one. And it usually works. On a side note, wonder if you can give chickens Xanax 😆
I have 4 Bantams that are just as loud. Mine want to go out too, so I let them out. I leave the big chicken run door open so they can still go inside and lay if they want. Instead of Xanax, maybe some ear plugs??😂😂
