When I feel qualified enough to write an article, I will.Hiya and welcome to BYC!!
Please consider writing an article on training your ducks.
I had a mallard as a kid I trained and so want to get back into owning ducks again one of these days. Your expertise would be awesome to read about.![]()
Great that you are keeping the heritage of your family alive! So many traditions, language, ceremonies have been banned in our Native cultures, (I'm half Inupiaq) my name was changed as a child, sent me spiraling mentally, freaked me completely out, and I changed it back as an adult.Sadly, I'm not at the rez. My great grandparents fled and were forcefully assimilated, and this was before the Tigua rolls were created, so I (or my family) can't gain tribal membership even though we're still obviously native and accepted by the community as such. Ah, the government and its rules.I'm the first one in four generations reconnecting to our heritage and making sure it doesn't go extinct within the family.

Oh, I would've loved to hear those old legends... I'm a budding medicine woman, actually, so these things hold extreme importance to me. I wasn't supposed to find out that I wasn't White, it happened by "accident", if you believe in accidents anyway.Great that you are keeping the heritage of your family alive! These things are SO important, definitely do all you can to keep traditions alive! ❤
Awe, there aren't too many "authorities" here, just some with way more hands-on and education than others, but most everyone tries to help and loves to learn. When I feel qualified enough to write an article, I will.I've trained two chickens and one and a half ducks so far (half because the second is still going through training, not like I have half a duck running around the house lol). Maybe after I get a few others under my belt I will write an article.
I feel like I'm a bit too new at this still to be an authoritative figure on the subject.

I am a writer...that is very tempting.Awe, there aren't too many "authorities" here, just some with way more hands-on and education than others, but most everyone tries to help and loves to learn.
You could write a beginner edition when you feel up to it, and then you can always add on to it or add pages to it. There is actually a BYC article contest going on until the end of the year!

Oh you'd love the stories of Raven creating the world, bringing light, freeing humans from the clam shell... I come from Raven clan so its Raven this and Raven that.Oh, I would've loved to hear those old legends... I'm a budding medicine woman, actually, so these things hold extreme importance to me. I wasn't supposed to find out that I wasn't White, it happened by "accident", if you believe in accidents anyway.I feel so much more at peace with myself knowing who I really am and doing what I can to learn and incorporate the old ways into my everyday life.

Following your anscestral genes and DNA makes you feel whole. It's who you really are. It's too easy to get caught up in societies structure of being what we think we should be to fit in, but being true to who we are by following those ancient callings gives us the enlightenment we all seek.Oh you'd love the stories of Raven creating the world, bringing light, freeing humans from the clam shell... Cured many a crop issue, even liver disease with my concoctions.

If you don't know where you came from, how do know who you are or where you going!
