Has anyone had the experience of having a USPS arrival date six days after shipping? I ordered from Cackle Hatchery via The Chicken Coop Company who said they have no control over what the postal service does. I'm livid. Seems they're sending them off knowing that they will for sure be dead upon arrival. It makes me sick to think of their suffering, and needlessly. If holiday weeks create a problem for delivery of live animals, I don't get why they ship live animals on holiday weeks. So, I won't be picking up six dead chicks. It sickens me.

I've not purchased chicks via mail but have shipped and been shipped dozens of orders of hatching eggs and only one took that long. It was stuck in a distribution center for some odd reason.

I would have some electrolyte water ready for them in case they do make it.

Sorry but if they don't make it, let Cackle know. Most hatcheries have a replacement program.

In my experience the chicks move too fast for accurate tracking .Mine had already arrived before I was notified they were shipped

I’ve had five? Maybe six orders. USPS is always wrong. I had one never move from “dropped off at post office” and I got the call they were here on the second morning. It’s definitely nerve wracking! But agreed with they usually move too fast to get scanned half the time. I’ve really loved our babies from Cackle!

Thank you for your reply. My issue isn't wanting a replacement, it's that they callously shipped chicks to their painful death.

Thank you for your response. I hope this is the case and that they arrive before July 4th. I also ordered from Mt. Healthy. They only use 2-day priority shipping so I feel much more confident that they'll arrive Thursday as scheduled. I don't understand why all hatcheries don't use the same 2-day priority shipping--seems a neglectful at the least.

I agree - I would happily pay more for an absolute guarantee they would be here within two days from any hatchery. (Granted USPS still might could fall short but the less likelihood is worth the money to me) It’s one reason I’m hoping we become decent with hatching eggs. 🤞

Keep us updated! Really hoping they get there happy and healthy and fast for you. 💙

USPS offers express shipping for less than 15 chicks. Hatchery's that require 15 chicks minimum only ship them priority mail .The hatchery you use determines whether they can be shipped by express.

2 day priority express can take 3 days in some areas.I happen to live in one of them.
