Shipped 6 Mandarins yesterday and box is lost!

Hope your little ones are okay. I have 2 ducklings and 2 gooslings coming from Metzer's shipping out on the 22nd so I hope they make it to Kentucky in good order. They say they should be here the morning of the 24th so we shall see.

For a moment I was thinking maybe somebody saw a box with ducks in it and just decided to take them home. But since they were found that didn't happen. Again, glad to know they arrived.
 
I need help here- Monica emailed me- she's exhausted , wet, tired, and upset. Now I"m upset. One of the drakes was dead in the box when it arrived. One hen scooted into the corner of the new pen when the box was unloaded. She was found dead this am. The other 4 are nervous, but alive..have been in their pool, have food and water, but it's cold and raining there...and it was hot here when they left.

How do we go about getting the shipping fee refunded and possibly the cost of the dead pair refunded, since they were insured? I can call my PO and see what they say....I"ve heard different things about what guaranteed means, and what insurance pays for...and Express Mail not really being Express since they got there to Milwaukee (not her local PO even) at 11 pm instead of by 3 pm.

What do we do now? I"m sick to my stomach for sure now- knowing my poor boy and girl didn't make it just because we shipped them...we didn't do anything wrong- it had to be something during shipping.

I just wanted to post an update for all of the people that were following this. My 2 pairs of Mandies are doing fantastic! It's been a long and stressful experience but it's been wonderful to see the 2 pairs relax and settle in. They didn't like the duck houses we had for them so my husband just built them brand new ones that I'm sure they'll love. They've been enjoying their pool and various treats. It's just so relieving to see them settle in.

Threw the whole thing Lisa has been very helpful and supportive! I couldn't ask for more from a breeder. I would love to buy more from her in the future but I think we'd both like a little time to recoup from this experience :)

However I am head over tails for these little guys! Beautiful with neat little personalities. I see along future ahead of me with them :) I thank everyone for their input and concern.

You can fill out the insurance claims online or at your post office. I recommend online, you get the money back faster. https://www.usps.com/manage/file-insurance-claims.htm

I did it the next day (last week) and refunded Monica's $ last night...The USPS was very cooperative (surprisingly) and gave back all the shipping fee, + the cost of 1 pair. WooHoo! I was expecting arguments, but got nothing but fast and willing service.

Thanks Miss Lydia! It was such a relief to see them relax and settle. The first time I saw them go into the big duck house and get comfy I almost cried ;) Amazing how much the "mother hen" kicks in with us. We've got ugly weather of 30's and non-stop rain again here but I'll try to grab some decent pictures when it clears up a little.

5@umn- Lisa did the claims. I know the insurance claim has already been refunded but I'm not totally sure on the shipping claim. Fortunately most of the postal workers were helpful with that. Just hope we don't have to do that again but you never know.
 
All claims were refunded. Wow! I was expecting a painful and drawn out conflict but it all worked out well. Thanks to Lisa for all her hard work! I'll post pictures once this darn weather clears up.
