About a week ago, I ordered some light brahma hatching eggs from some nice stock to start up a brahma flock. The seller was close, only one state over, so the eggs wouldn't have to go far. I excitedly checked the tracking daily and when they finally came in, I eagerly went to grab them off my porch.
Then I saw the box and my heart sank.
The box looked like an accordion. It couldn't even sit flat on the ground. As if its appearance wasn't enough, the smell of rotten eggs was emanating from it. It also bore this sticker.
I knew things were not going to be good. I set it on the floor and got to opening it. The smell was awful, even from having it inside for just a few minutes. The inner box was in bad shape as well and smelled horribly. You can probably see why.
Needless to say I was not surprised to open it up to see this carnage.
Some of the eggs were so badly crushed they were smashed as flat as pancakes. I was devastated. I messaged the seller to let them know what happened and also put in a claim with the post office yesterday. I snapped pictures for that as fast as I could and rushed this box back outside, because it was already smelling up the whole house. The post office, I would like to let you all know, has denied this claim. They said a letter detailing why has been sent. Can't wait to see that.
Miraculously enough, a few eggs survived this ordeal. However, they were all covered in rotting egg yolk. Since the post office has denied the claim, I decided to wash them off and try incubating them. We will see if these survivors do anything.

There is no excuse the PO can give for this condition. None. It looks like it was stuck into a trash compactor. Why in heaven's name didn't they just stop this box along the way and report it as crushed? Well at least the carrier had to smell it all the way to your house....hopefully the seller will reship and you will have a MUCH better result!!
They're in the incubator not touching anything else, just to be safe.
