I receive my eggs today. 12 our of 30 eggs were broken. Some of the other eggs look like they have stress breaks in them. I had to rinse them off because of yolk all over them. Do you think they would be ok to put in the incubator? This is my first time trying to hatch baby chickens and I was so excited to get started. Or should I wait until I get more eggs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated..... Thanks

Hi Lynn! That's a lot of broken eggs. Is your seller reshipping a fresh group of eggs?
If you are able to accommodate a staggered hatch, you could candle the intact eggs for cracks and air cells and set the ones that look good.
Good luck!

She hasnt offered. I have sent her pictures of the box and all the broken eggs. All she said was have a good hatch. So really dont know what to do. Should I ask her to send me some more? This is my first time of doing all this. I just wanted to try and do a hatch under good conditions as its hard enough anyway.

I too received eggs shipped from a ebay seller....It was the worst packing job I had ever seen ... I emailed him pictures and desctibe the condition they arrived in....all he would say was"sorry bout that NO REFUNDS" he did offer more eggs but why would I risk another $15.00 shipping charge if he packs like this:

The eggs were in a styrofoam eggs carton taped shut... on top between the eggs there was a small strip of foam rubber...on the side were 1/2 egg carton taped shut w/newspaper in it...on the other side was the same...underneath was 1/2 egg carton w/2 extra eggs with a small strip of fiberglass insulation on top.. no packing at all around the eggs or around the cartons....OMG!! I couldnt believe it... out of 14 eggs 10 were either cracked broken smashed or empty ...the box was leaking and the smell was horrid..about made me vomit seriously...check it out...the ones that dont look broken are cracked and contaminated with the soured yolk from the broken ones...only 4 made it with out cracking..but they to were covered w/the soured yolk of the others and when I tried to wash them gently the brown washed off whats up with that?...

Some times in spite of a seller's wonderful careful packing the post office can do a real number on the eggs. I have received eggs in crushed boxes and inside the eggs were intact but had a very bad hatch due to mishandling of box. Some sellers replace eggs but I wouldn't expect seller to replace eggs if the post office was the problem.

I totally agree w/you ozarkhen If the box had been crushed or dented I would have understood it a little more the box was not crushed or dented ....but it was leaking....It was totally the packing job.... In my case...they probably didnt even make it out of his town before they started to break..

I always offer to replace any broken, so far I have only had two that got broken out of all the shipments I have done. The one packing job with the strip of foam was absolutely awful! I hope both sellers come through for you both.

Contact ebay and ask for a refund. Make sure you take pictures of the damage too. There are good and bad sellers on ebay. Look at the feedback they receive and how long they have been "shipping" eggs. If the number is low, beware.
There are bad sellers who just relist under different names.
