SHIPPED HATCHING EGGS.....what's your experience been?

I've had Zero out of 25 hatch and I've had 6 out of 6 hatch. My average success with shipped eggs overall has been about 50%. And of that most have been roosters. I don't know if it is because the rooster eggs are stronger or if it's just the people sending them have mostly hens that produce roosters. I've now gone to hatching my own eggs but I plan to get more shipped eggs later this year hopefully for some breeds I want and don't yet have.

This was my first eggs shipped and I am not happy at all.
I got 7 eggs that made it here not scrambled.
These are turkey eggs and at $68 for seven eggs that may or may not habit, I am not sure I want to do it again. I guess the answer is to insure the eggs? Not to that they habit, that they get here in one piece. I am hoping she replace some of them. Because I didn't buy scrambled eggs.
Oh there were 2 and 1/2 dozen eggs shipped.

Shipped twice, pending a third time... so far.

First shipment, barred rock and blue orp. Had a huge incubation disaster and only one made it. Not the fault of the shipper. Sole survivor was pullet.

Second set of shipped eggs were 12 sizzles. Arrived in great shape. 2 were clear. One quit at 10days, 2 died hatching. Don't know about the roo ratio yet - they're coming on two weeks. But one silkie feathered, two smooth, and five sizzles. Two with muffs and beards. Most BBS, one gray partridge (adorable).

Delawares that traveled by car 4 hours. 14 eggs, one clear, one died at hatch, one the day after. 11 insane yellow popcorn balls banging off the brooder walls and ceiling. Calm they're not, and they look to be split about 50/50 for boy/girl.

In the MAIL - six blue/barred/black/splash rock eggs. We'll see

You know, it seems most of the shipped eggs I have had hatch were roosters also? Isn't that odd?

I was reading on one of these threads that it's the hen that decides the sex of the chicks. I'll see if I can find the url to the thread and post it. It was Speckledhen that gave that great info. I thought it was interesting! Here is the link to that URL

I've had LOTS of shipped eggs. Sometimes none hatch. Sometimes they all develop, and still don't hatch. Sometimes I get lucky and the majority of them hatch. I had 12 silkie eggs shipped... 9 hatched just this week. 8 light brahma eggs shipped, 6 developed, one is in the hatcher right now.

More times than not, I don't get a lot of chicks. But sometimes it's the only way to get the birds I want up here. Right now I have BC marans, Bourbon Red turkeys, and BBS orpingtons in the incubator, all shipped, and I'm

. 50% of the 80 bobwhite eggs are in the hatcher now... I just keep trying.
