I have heard about a lot of people having trouble with shipped eggs. I guess I was lucky The packing was fabulous and did not look like it had been mishandled. Not a broken egg in the bunch.

These are white silkie eggs. I have gray and black silkies now and wanted some white ones. I added 12 of my own because why use the same electric to hatch 12. Threw one out that was clear and the rest seemed to have possibility. (still not great at candling) Well of the remaining 23 eggs 5 have hatched and they are all the white silkies. I have 3 or 4 more pips and I am on day 20. Can't wait to see what has hatched by morning.

I did have one start to pip last night and it has not done anything. I am afraid I lost that one but I guess there is still hope.

Will post when they come out of the bator. Hard to tell in the Brinsea as it gets so crowded. But I would say this morning I have a dozen-

two I can tell by the coloring are from my hens but most of them sem to be white. I have a black one zipped and two others pipping. If I can get DH to sit on his hands all day I may have a pretty high hatch rate. He works from home I don't.

The only thing I don't like about the brinsea is the size it just gets so crowded. I lost two last time because I thought I needed to pull some out to make room for the unhatched ones to hatch. I know it cost me two chicks.

Here are pictures of the silkies I just hatched. Out of 24 eggs one was clear at 18 days and 21 hatched. The 12 from Tripp's shipped eggs all hatched.

Note the one that looks like a EE. is that possible with a silkie?

Susan

ETA 20 out of the 24 that went in not 21.
