Shipping and Receiving Pea eggs contest!

I participated in this contest, not to win, or care about winning. I found interest in this because of the fact being new to peafowl and wanting a certain color I am also interested in the outcome of eggs being shipped and the hatch rate. I thought this thread was for this purpose. My understanding you wanted to know about the details of the shipping and the hatching. There are many posts that pretain little to this on this thread. I updated as I thought was the purpose. No I won't have eggs to contribute to the winner, as I am only a buyer, who wanted a few peafowl. I am enjoying the beauty and may become more involved. The e-mail that tells me you aren't interested in updates on the eggs shipped makes me question if this is the intention of this thread. I would think that the overall process shipping, of the hatch and honesty is the only true method of determining this experiment/contest.
I didn't send you an e-mail

Post #84 is a copy paste of the first post. We still want updates on the hatch, FrenchBlackCopper is just suggesting we make a single post with everyone's details, so that they are all in one place instead of scattered throughout the thread.

Lil Zoo,,I started this thread for the purpose of possibly learning the best ways to pack eggs, the best shippers to send eggs, and to help you decide from provided information within the thread as to your individual preferences when buying-shipping eggs.I for one after winning an e-bay auction from DAS here late last week, have determined to continue to use Fed-Ex guaranteed 2 day delivery,.because it took the eggs from DAS 5 days to reach me using the USPS Priority shipping method. And our distance apart was just over 500 miles.I personally think from the several BYC members here that I have shipped eggs to,my method of packing is now very good as noone has reported any broken eggs from me on this thread, since it was started.I would only hope many more BYC'ers will participate as peacocks don't lay eggs all year, and our laying season is about 1/2 way thru now.
Kedreeva has a shipment going over 2000 miles,,probably the longest distance so far of anyone who has decided to participate in this. But it will be another 20 or so days before we get the hatch results.
Please reply to me about this quote in post #90 above The e-mail that tells me you aren't interested in updates on the eggs shipped makes me question if this is the intention of this thread.
Who sent you this e-mail? I Guarantee you it was not from me.Please post for all to see and include the e-mail header as well. Yes,we do get sidetracked and off topic at times,,but please do the math and look back at the start of this thread please? The first eggs entered in this thread was shipped May 22nd to Georgialee in Tennessee,I sent her an e-mail last night asking how they was doing, and if she was ready for hatching,,she replied back Monday was the big day,and she will post updates on what-how many hatched. It is now 3 weeks later,,and I hope you will see this forum is also fun and a way to share common interests among all poultry lovers.
I never sent you an e-mail,,I'm not that type of a person.I've only had peas for 2 years now and my learning curve had to be very steep to get where I'm now at with my birds, pen building, and colors and varieties I now have here.Noone is born with a "Rules of raising peafowl" in their hands,,and if you feel offended by ANYTHING I have typed directly to you(which I think this is the first and only post) believe me it was not intentional,,I try to help others and manytimes go above and beyond,,I can give you references from people who have bought puppies from us in the past 20 years to prove that fact.Peafowl are no diffrent,,if someone here has a idea that will help me lower costs, improve the health and condition of my birds,or give me advice on treating a sick bird,,I will openly accept it and apply it if I believe it will help.Anything to save money is valued today.
This forum is about sharing and learning and some of the advice you can get here cannot be found at any University,,but from breeders who have been in the trenches for decades,,and I value their imput and creditability very, very highly.I'm sure noone here intentionally wanted to ruffle your tail fathers,,we're probably the smallest group on BYC here but we all have a humorous side and diffrent opinions. So yes,we do get off topic while we wait 26-28 days for the first results to come in,,but it keeps the thread alive while we wait in anticipation what the outcome will be.And I know sometimes we may joke with one another but lifes too short to have a dark raincloud over your head all the time.I'm here to have fun and learn, and possibly help someone else from time to time. And I don't think any of us has our hands out wanting money for advise or sharing information. At least I don't,,but sure could use an influx of cash when it's time to buy feed :)

I e-mailed Georgialee today on her shipment of 19 eggs,,she said 13 still looked very good and Monday is pip and pop day for her,,I think we need to go back thru this thread and compile one list with everyones shipped eggs and update as hatch day occurs, and keep it going-adding as more ship and hatch???? I'm still looking for 1-2 more colors of eggs to buy and would gladly enter them for statistical purposes,,but I'm having a very hard time locating what I want,,Mmmaddie13,,may be the merlot, but you sure your hatch date isn't July 11th??

Frenchblackcopper. I apologize if I took this wrong which was post #78 after I had posted #76 and #77. I had seen posts of others process and when I updated mine this sounded to me like my update was not important only my shipping and hatching. I did feel offended. I participated not to win a contest but to learn and help others learn. If it so happened to be that after my post you simply made your comment about keeping the shipping and the hatch compiled on hatch day, was just a coincidence then I owe you the apology.

Lil Zoo,,my thoughts in my post #78 is making a spreadsheet listing all information from everyone participating here.I have sent eggs to Mmmaddie13,Georgialee,and Poultryfan, and recieved eggs from DAS,,and if my Opal B/S get with the program Kedreeva wants some of those.Judyc picked up 7 IB eggs here Tuesday but since they were picked up,they can't be used here,,but hatch updates and pics are always highly encouraged. This alone is 4 seperate sets of stats, just from what I have shipped out and instead of thumbing back and forth as the forum pages adds up,,it would be easier to have a spreadsheet we could keep updating as info is added and post it from time to time as updates are made,,yes??
Mmmaddie13,,if your incubators don't have auto turners I'd leave the eggs on their sides and flip sides 3 times a day at least.I used to stand mine up pointy end down but found laying them on their sides was easier and less complicated trying to find smaller or larger eggs to get the tray full,,now I just leave any extra space in the row, since thats all I'm hatching this spring,,what a loss for all my ornamental pheasants,,agghhh!
Maybe later I'll start a spreadsheet and try to compile all the information added here so far,,,ir would be easier to look at all in one place.

Lil Zoo, I would personally LOVE updates from anyone and everyone. Sometimes in these forums a post gets read by many and acknowledged by few, especially since there is so much going on from so many different places. No one intended to make anyone feel offended, it just so happens that sometimes a post gets overlooked. I hope your hatch pulls through, and am certainly rooting for you and looking forward to hearing about it.

Randy, I do have them on their sides in the track, I'm planning on turning the whole incubator from side to side 5x a day. So far temps and humidity are holding steady in both.

For those of you with Octagon 20s; any idea how often to refill the humidity trough? My humidity is staying perfect at 40% with one trough full, but since that egg tray is in the way I can't see when the water level is low. Anyone? Every 2-3 days or so maybe?

Well,I just won a 6 egg auction of eggs from a white peacock with cameo hens coming from Ga.I sent an e-mail before the auction ended to implore the seller to use Fed-Ex 2 day Guaranteed delivery,,got an e-mail back saying they use USPS Priority mail,,,and they didn't seem inclined to try Fed-Ex for me,even tho I offered to pay the extra,,so,,I just wasted $73.99,,Could have procured several bottles of fine merlot for this mistake,,I'll have the trash can ready for them once they get here cause I'm sure they won;t be worth a c**p,if anyone here knows where I can pry loose some cameo b/s pied eggs,do let me know please? I've scoured the internet asking, they must be in high demand or non existant.
Mmmaddie13,,is it possible to use a syringe with some surgical tubing on one end to get water in the tray??

I feel rather stupid for misjudging the post. I have just bought a 4 year old White male for sure and possibly a two year old black shoulder cameo male if I get there before another party that wants the cameo, but hasn't come up with the money yet. We are leaving tomorrow to pick him or them up. 205 miles away. Then I found a 4 year old Blue male, they also have some mature peahens. My intentions were just peacocks, but I may come home with some peahens, knowing me. I think she has white and blue peahens. They of course are 160 miles the opposite direction. Hope to be able to get them on Tuesday. I think my Granddaughter who is my driver has something going on Monday. I enjoy the anticipation of the incubating but want the beauty now. I'm not quite ready for this many at once. This family works better under pressure. The unusual part of this venture is everyone in the family seems to be on board. I'm still into this hatch believe me. Will post a picture of my fellows if someone tells me where to do that.
