I've been hearing about how much trouble the USPS has been having and rumors about it shutting down this fall.
IDK how serious the situation is or whats gonna happen but I've now recieved emails from two hatcheries about if the USPS doesn't get fixed or bailed out that shipping chicks will come to an end.
This is a link to a petition they've sent me.
Anyone know more about what's going on?

It is typical scare tactics to get people to support things that may or may not happen. The last time USPS threatened to shut down, Congress bailed them out.

If USPS did shut down, some other carriers would jump at the chance to pick up the business. FedEx and UPS already deliver hatching eggs, it would not be much of a jump for them to also take on shipping chicks.

Lol.
I kinda figured that may be the case where they'll make it sound like it'll be the end of the world then government would come in at the last minute and bail them out but wasn't sure what the deal was.
I actually hope they continue because in my area if the job is handed over to FedEx chicks would be lucky to make it here in any reasonable time.
My last two day shipping took over two weeks.
Also they'd never survive the shipping. I have a large wooden box just outside my drive gate for deliveries. Amazon and UPS have no trouble understanding it and using it but every FedEx delivery to date has been tossed over the gate to usually get openes by our dogs.

It is different everywhere. I get excellent service from the local UPS and FedEx. They deliver right to my door. The USPS mailbox is half a mile from the house. I have had better luck with hatching eggs through FedEx than from the USPS. The only problem with hatching eggs from FedEX is they need to come by ground. It is not good when they stick them in the non-pressurized section of a cargo plane.

I haven't gotten any mail order eggs so I don't know. I do know any package or box the people on our route refuse to want to deliver it. They just throw the unable to deliver because I'm not at home note in the mailbox and just take it back with them. The post master here doesn't give a crap. I've sit on my porch and taken pictures of the mail truck to prove I was home when they do the crap and he doesn't care.

When they do that here, the package never leaves the post office. They leave the package at the post office and the only thing they have with them is the Unable to Deliver notice.

Most of the time I have to go get the package I have to wait on the carrier to bring it back. But with the USPS nothing surprises me anymore.

I believe the issue of shipping would be worked out in some form or fashion, but after reading an article about it a while back we decided to get some roosters and some hens from a breed that is likely to set. I am not real fond of ordering chickens because we have to pick them up at our post office and that seems to be made into more of a hassle than it should be. I’m not sure having them delivered by one of the two major shipping companies is a good idea either. Seems to be a lot of erroneous incidents with deliveries.
