Shipping methods

Just wondering what everyone's shipping methods are for quail eggs. I've had them shipped in different ways, but curious to see if there are any other methods, or to see if anyone else had problems with certain methods.

I have been shipping my standard chicken eggs and bantam cochin eggs individually wadded up in a sheet of newspaper and stuffed in a box so nothing moves. Seems to work out well.

I individually bubblewrap (but this is pricey...I may try newspaper method once i start shipping again) and then I put them tight in a baggie of some sort with wadded up newspaper or fabric stuffing and then pack them ina box with more newspaper.

However, with quail eggs the best method i've gotten was quail eggsin quail egg cartons with shreaded newspaper or other stuffing stuff shaped in the carton with themto avoid movement.....then packed in tight in the box with more shreaded newspaper..its a mess to unwrap (shreaded paper everywhere) but it gives great results!

Every time I have gotten quail eggs sent to me in cartons there have been at least 4 broken upon arrival. Many of the quail egg cartons just aren't big enough for the coturnix eggs. Or, in some cases, they are too big, and the eggs weren't padded properly inside the carton to keep them from bouncing off the top. However, many people send quail eggs in very large quantities, and wrapping each egg individually is a real pain when sending 4+ dozen.
The most eggs I have sent has been 22, and those were in a plastic, 24-egg carton. I believe there were 2 or 3 that were broken when they got there

If you are planning on sending large quantities, get either the 10 count plastic cartons, or use the paper flats. The 24 count cartons are worthless with coturnix eggs.

I wrap each egg in bubble wrap, then wrap them all together inside a bubble wrap 'sleeve', then line the box with crumpled paper and more bubble wrap, then seal it all up with a kiss and a prayer

When my quail eggs were shipped to me from PA, they arrived in a box with a layer of shredded paper on the bottom, then a row of plastic quail egg cartons which were all taped together, then more shredded paper, then another row of cartons then another layer of paper to seal the deal. Each carton of eggs had what looked like toilet paper rolled up and placed between the rows in the carton.

I had 120 eggs shipped to me and only 4 were cracked upon arrival!

Now i am wondering something.............instead of shredded paper, i wonder if popcorn would work, popped of course! One of my kids just had the egg drop competition at his school where they dropped the eggs and their protective contraptions off a two story building, and his survived!! We microwaved a bag of popcorn and put the egg in a sandwhich baggie (incase of failure!), dumped half the bag out, put the egg in the middle and put the popcorn back in.

Now talk about environmentally safe! Dump the popcorn in the yard for the birds to eat!!LOL

I think that popcorn could be a good idea for that...ofcourse nonbuttered/nonsalted lol

Banter shipped me eggs..and she wrapped them in bubble wrap and then put the eggs inside cardboard oatmeal/grits tubes..and then put them in a box padded with bubble wrap and packing peanuts... these are the only ones right now that are developing in my bator....so..i think she may be on to something!
