Is it possible to ship fresh non fertilized eggs to family out of state? If so, can they be an intact egg? Should i crack and freeze? Do i need to worry about temperature during shipping? I would love to send some of my eggs to a very special family member. They would be going from colorado to long islan NY. Is it a bad idea?
I apologize if this has been addressed in another post bt after two hours i was unable to find an answer. Thank you for your help!

Do not wash them or refrigerate them, keep them at room temp and unwashed... Ship them Priority Mail and they should be fine...

The only issue is packing, do some Google searches on how to pack and ship eggs so they don't get cracked...

Unwashed at room temp or slightly cooler they will keep for months...

I'd be concerned they's sit in a hot truck somewhere.....
......have the recipient break each egg in a separate bowl before adding to recipe or frying pan.

Would it be better to ship with dry ice?:idunno

No, you don't want frozen eggs, and dry ice is considered a hazardous material by the USPS and requires special packaging...

People ship 'hatching eggs' every day by Priority Mail and they generally get to their destination just fine... There is really no difference shipping 'eating eggs' as long as they are unwashed and non-refrigerated...

What aart suggested is good practice, I do it with all my 'fresh eggs' just because you will get a dud egg every so often, it happens... Store bought eggs are candled and inspected for imperfections before they hit the shelves, this isn't the case with home grown eggs...

Great information folks! I was wondering the same thing but all the posts I found were specific to hatching eggs so I wasn't sure about edible eggs. My friends and family will love getting fresh local eggs, especially since they know the hens, lol.
