Shipping Secrets

pips&peeps :

If I have a small order, I turn the small flat rate box inside out and glue it back together for less postage.

There is no need to turn a flat rate box inside out as you can get other boxes for free from the post office. The post office forbids doing this and when they catch you doing it - the package will be charged the flat rate amount - thus going to the receiver postage due. So just get some other boxes at the post office or order a variety of sizes at USPS.com - shipped to your door for free. - My dad works for the post office and told me this.

There are no other priority boxes that are comparable in size to the Large Flat Rate Box.

I have been using them this way for a few months and have had no problems. When you turn them inside out it only says "priority postage required".

Thank yall for all the great ideas. I had no idea I could get free boxes and my pharmacy is around the corner so I will hit them up for packing materials. I too, am like alot of you and dont want to make any money shipping eggs. I have been charged almost 30 dollars for 30 chicken eggs. But most of the time it seems I get charged about $16.50 for 12 eggs.

So thanks again for all the good info.

I package by doing a wrap in bubblewrap similar to the Dipsy Doodle Doo method demonstrated when you search for hers. I then put these in a small box which also has bubble wrap, or tissue or other buffer all in it. This small box goes inside the largest UPS mailing box available after it has been packed with air packets, newspaper, bubble wrapt, styrofoam, etc., etc. I pay actual cost of shipping which usually is much more than if I had crammed in the smaller postpaid boxes

One dozen eggs wrapped for me is a minimum of 1 hour and 30 minutes and yes I could use priority boxes but find the success wrap for arrival and then hatching when I wrap like this is the best.

I used to ship inside egg cartons but when the "outsided" shipping box fine was added, I had to dispose with this method. This was extreme wrapping of the egg, then in the box, then layered in a minimum of 3-6 styfoam boxes and put in a biggers box - usually over 12 by 12 by 12.

If you need any more help, please let em know. Have a blessed day.
