Shipping to california not allowed

I live in California and haven't received any birds in the mail for a while, but I did get a pair of adult call ducks in the mail last year without any issue. Nor have I heard of any restrictions on shipping live poultry to California, either.

I'd check around more and make sure that's true because I think there would be more discussion on BYC if this was the case! Good luck.

I just got two painted silkies from bren in tx last week. The PO was very courteous and helpful, no mention of a current or future ban. I would check further. In fact, I would look up the zip code they were being shipped from and call them myself.

My feed store told me there was a change this year for birds being shipped INTO Washington. If chicks have not been vaccinated, they have to be checked by a vet and/or kept in quarantine, I believe. Maybe there is a similar requirement for older birds -- that you have to provide proof of health or certification or vaccination before they'll be allowed?
